This is a very useful video. My grandson is looking to buy his first Harley after starting on a Yamaha 125 at 12 years old. He's had Hondas and Yamahas since and his last bike was a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 that he really liked, but had to sell to go to welding school. He was hoping for a Dyna, but where he lives they are all around $10k and that's a little too much for him right now. Thanks a lot for a very informative video.
My Nighster has served me well over the last 4 years. Great bike to upgrade to from dirtbikes and I still haven’t put grown it! Maybe a low rider S next 🧐
Agreed that these are pretty good starter bikes. Once you get on a bigger bike though, at least for me, the Sportsters feel like a toy. Still fun to ride though. Got my Viking Bags in today that you reviewed in a previous video. Love the look of them on the Fat Boy and very functional.
Really can't beat them for the price. The the only hard bags that I found that I really like are from Harley for $900. Not looking to drop that kinda cash right now.
Good discussion on the comparison of the Harley Sportster line. Like you said I think it comes down to the riders personal preference. When I first started at looking at getting a bike again I originally looked at the Truimph Bonneville Bobber. I just like that chopped back end and it just had that cosmetic appeasing look factor I thought was good from a “look at that bike”perspective. However having to only get one bike, practicality had to win out and ended up with the Scout. Maybe the next one will be more of a looker. 🙂
Man, you are really a fanatic for these things. I bet you're riding that 48 you got more than your Lowrider S. I couldn't even look at another Sporty to buy unless it was that ""touring"" model they made for a few years with the big tank, leather hard bags, removable windshield and all that. Even then it would be just to tear it down and build another scrambler. Probably spoiled with that Road King but I don't think there's a single thing a sporty would do better than my Road King *for me*. In all fairness I've thrown *a lot* of money at that RK in both power and comfort mods though. Hell, I don't even ride my dyna lowrider except to make sure it runs from time to time..smh. I dig it though brotha. The sporty mafia is real lol
I don't know what it is, but it's mostly all the feedback I get when riding the sportster. The sound and vibrations really make me feel like I'm riding a machine. But I like having both because when I get on the low rider I'm reminded how smooth and comfortable it is.
@@IronBornRider Yeah, I know how those m8's are out of the box. They're sewing machines. They really need a cam to get that old school harley feel, only problem is it's expensive AF to do properly. Those 1200 Evo's are definitely special and distinctive, and it's very cool you can still get something with that classic harley feel brand new off the showroom floor. For the time being at least...
@@IronBornRider With a power vision tune, some spicy cam, and a dyno tune from real professionals (not a stealership) it certainly ain’t cheap. I’d recommend a quick shifter too. I haven’t done a video on mine yet and there’s basically none at all on TH-cam about them either but it’s pure magic on the Harley. Perhaps I’ll find some time this week to do a little video showing what it can do. The units only a few hundred bucks and it’s disgusting.
hey man, sorry for the late response. i have a 48, and about 5’8. i’ve done the “longer” distance riding, and most people don’t mind stopping when i have to refuel every now and then. gives them a break and allows them to stretch. that said, you can always upgrade the tank.
@@IronBornRider Aww damn, didn't know you got rid of yours! That's a bummer. I don't know if I'd buy one at today's prices. More of a dual sport guy but I live deep in Harley country. Your channel helps me understand why people love these bikes so much, I always thought they were just loud and ugly.
@@chronotriggerfan yeah every now and again you'll see a cheap grom pop up. I'll wait for one of those. Also, Harley (and their owners) get a bad rep but I would say some of its well deserved. Never used to be a Harley guy until I rode one myself.
Good review, thanks for the content. I’m currently on my 1st Harley - went with the 48 and love it!
Thanks man. The 48 is a special bike

Perfect description of the bikes
Thanks

Low Rider S is great, but there's something about the old school sportsters

Glad you like the bags! They're really nice for the price

Nice overview of each man. For me the 48 tank is too small, the 883 lacks power so I’m all about the regular 1200. Well done!!
Thanks Chop!
Yeah my thought too mate, iron 1200 seems to be the one!
I am interested, why is the nightster is a different!? I have one myself just got it 3 weeks ago .. can't compare because it's my 1st Harley..
The new nightster has a completely overhauled engine (revmax). They may look similar but to me the nightster is in a different category
@IronBornRider which model we talking about!

The Scout is an awesome bike, probably the one I would've gotten if it was around the same price point of the 48
How tall are you? Is the 48 ideal for someone thats 5'8" 175 lbs?
I’m about 5’8, the 48 fit me just fine. You’ll love it

@@BikesNThings yeah I'm definitely trying to save up some coin to get a cam on the LRS during winter. It's just so expensive lol.

@@BikesNThings I’ve heard about the quick shifters. Might need to take a closer look into it
48 position is not the best if you are short, for regular size people like myself is really comfortable and i look amazing 😎
Damn i wanted a 48 real bad. But they mileage aint it. :/ worst part is, i love the look alot more
I went with the 48 because they just looked so much better than the other sportsters. But yeah I would have to refuel every 80-100 miles

Blooper reel at the end? Or…
LOLLLL lets say I did that on purpose :D
@@IronBornRider lol, easy trim using the YT tool tho’
@@KennyQuestShow oh wow, I didn't even know you could do that. I just trimmed it, thanks for the tip!
@@IronBornRider yessir!
The used cycle market is so weird. I got my road king for $4k. Those tiny "city" bikes are overpriced if you ask me. They should be in the $2k range
Rk for $4k?!
For me it has to have a fat front tire
looks the best with that fat tire
More road contact
