    Good video. Just found your channel. Another thing to consider is the backspacing on the wheel. We ended up going with a 3.75 backspacing so we didn’t make contact with the control arms. We see a lot of people just try and stuff the biggest tire they can....but actually lose all your off-road performance. I have a 3.5” RE lift and still had to trim my fenders to run 32’s effectively. I actually love the way my fenders turned out. I have a 3 part series on my channel if anyone is interested.

    @onefastcyclist 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Good info! There is one little cheat that can be done with a 3-1/2" lift without trimming the fenders on 97-01 XJ's with the narrowest wheel wells: BFG makes KO2's in235/85/16's (9,3 x 32.7). Tall and narrow works every time.

      I just bought 33x12.50/15 toyo m/t and planning my lift accordingly. My XJ has a 2.5” lift now, and plan on 4.5” . The big decision is long or short arm? Which lift kit works best and most complete? I don’t want to do the lift twice and waste money

    My past experience smaller rims like 15" gives you a softer ride cuz you have more sidewall rubber and are better if you air your tire down when off-roading for traction but will corner worse. if you want to Corner better get a larger rim less side wall rubber less sway

    I have a very clean xj that I got from my dad when he passed, this jeep means alot to me, i would like to put a 4 1/2" lift on it with 33 bfg ko2 with 17" rims but the people that I've talked to said it won't work unless u cut absolutely dont wanna cut. Your advise would be great what lift to get also the tire size & offset ty

    • @jcjeeps
      @jcjeeps  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You definitely do not need to cut with a 4.5 in lift and 33s. Now if you go wheeling there won’t be a crazy amount of room but it won’t rub doing daily driving or moderate wheeling. That awesome your keeping it clean!

    Looking for your thoughts on this. I was orginally pretty set on the Rc 3" w/ 31s, but Im considering getting into some light overlanding stuff, and was thinking the RE3.5 w/32s would be better without bombing daily drivability. Rather than haveing to buy twice, which would you reccomend? My xj is pretty mint so id like to keep stock flairs for as long as possible. Also, do you reccomend sway bar quick disconnects? Thanks!

    I had 33's on 4.5" of lift with so much rubbing it was not funny. I had to cut a ton to fit 33's. Bumper end caps, fender and if you don't have the right backspacing you will rub on the frame and or control arms if you have short arms. I have 35's on 5" of lift now and rub coming out of the driveway.

    Have you ever ran DPG offroad/ome components? I've got a '97 XJ that I'm looking to raise the altitude from 2.5 ish inches on an ancient Rancho lift that is completely sacked out to about 3.5 inches. I am already running 31x10.5r15's and plan to run some notch customs flares and maybe 33's once we wear out the 31's.

    I have a 2001 XJ I’m putting on a Rubicon 3 1/2” lift kit on it from Qudratec I also got Rubicon 3 1/2 - 4” shocks I have shocks already I’m waiting for the lift kit coming. It’s a PA jeep XJ in real nice shape. It came with a spacers, and bastard spring in rear. Sort of 3” lift on 31 x 10.50 x 15” rims not stock rims but nice aluminum rims. After my lift kit coming I will run the same tires until they need replacement, I don’t want to cut fenders. So I may just try 33x10.50x15 I’m hoping to have a great road - off road jeep. What’s your opinion on the 33” with the 3 1/2 “ lift do you think it will be to big of tire? Thank you for reply.

      J G it’s possible if you put bushwhacker fenders on, or cut a good amount off. I don’t usually recommend cutting unless it’s done professionally cause once it’s cut it’s permanent. But you can definitely make those wheels work!

      The Red Beast I’m now at about 4.5-5in with a long arm and 4in backspacing and my 35s rub the arms at full lock. And the unibody seam in the wheel well. I cut/pounded half of it back and it wasn’t enough. I’m going to 5+in lift to help with better bumpstopping. These XJs just don’t handle that size tire that well.
