Lovely playing from the best pianist, Perlemuter, performing the works of the BEST composer, Ravel!!!! "Noctuelles" is the most charming piece of music ever written - truly captures the cuteness of night moths!!
These revelatory 1955 performances are truly vintage Perlemuter. Perlemuter was really great in Ravel-- until he got old. His many later recordings are a disservice to his own powers. He had neither the same technical control nor the same expressive nuance as an elderly pianist, a characterization I would also apply to the older versus the younger Novaes.
La beauté, la poésie, le mystère à l'état pur. Et la grande maîtrise!
This performance of Une barque sur l’océan = goosebumps!
the best there is!

"Noctuelles" I'm unsure about. Whenever I hear it I have a more or less constant feeling of needing to brush those moths from my face. :~)
magnifique Ravel!
en effet peut etre l'interprete le plus proche de ravel , quelle reflexion sur l'oeuvre , quelle elegance !
magnificent performance of this masterpiece.
34.446 Views for such a phantastic playing, but the half-naked influenzas have millions of views ... crazy world.

8:07 Une barque sur l'océan
supreme!
This would be the VOX recording. It sounds much better here,
Wonderful playing, of course, but have any of you heard the Miroirs recording by Pianist ANDRE LAPLANTE?
Yes! It was exquisite!
