    I think the conductor has successfully taken us beyond the real into the surreal, as Offenbach would have wanted - well done, to the conductor.

    L'interprétation de cette ouverture iconique et qui fabrique à elle seule l'image indémodable de Paris et du Moulin Rouge est ici très réussie.

And that Bassoon player is pretty darned awesome too. I'd buy this on DVD if it was available. Along with most if not all their other music. All their soloists are superb. I need to mention that guy playing violin, as good as any violinist I've ever heard. OMG, The dour looking guy in percussion is even smiling during the "can can". Wow!

      ***** You say that as if rap is a bad musical genre.

    • @MisterBigBlunts
      @MisterBigBlunts 9 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      Lunam Gallus No genre is "bad", but almost every #1 rap song in the past 15 years has been incredibly lazy. That's a fact. Now my OPINION is that rap is, indeed bad. But that is contrary to the fact.

    • @lunamgallus8301
      @lunamgallus8301 9 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      MisterBigBlunts I mean, if you keep looking at the charts and what the biggest hits have been, of course you're only going to find bad stuff. You need to look for the good stuff, as you need to do for pop, rock, and everything else. Also, that's not a fact.

    • @MisterBigBlunts
      @MisterBigBlunts 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Lunam Gallus The main thing wrong here is the second half of your first sentence: "of course you're only going to find bad stuff." This was not the case from the 1970s going well back to the 1660s. Why is this ok now, when for the previous 300+ years of printed/recorded music, this wasn't the case? What music do we learn about in our history books? The #1 hits. Mozart was like the Lil Wayne of his day. Bach was the Drake of the 1700s, Liszt even had screaming fans that would go hysterical when he walked in the room, known as "Lisztomania" which was similar to "Beatlemania". Do you think that in 100 years anyone is going to be talking about Brotha Lynch and Immortal Technique? No, they are going to be talking about Lil Wayne and Drake. And this is why rap sucks. Because it should have stayed as an underground thing and not blown into the mainstream for producers to make puppets out of actors.

    • @lunamgallus8301
      @lunamgallus8301 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      MisterBigBlunts It's not okay, but it's what the people like today. Times change, and so do people's tastes. Also, those won't be the only people remembered. There are many great rappers who are still making music, releasing it, and getting the recognition that they deserve on the charts. Wu Tang released an album not a year ago, and it was great. We're going to be learning about them and every other good rapper who made it and is making music that the people like, as well as Drake and Lil Wayne

      The Gimnazija Kranj Symphony is not a school orchestra. It is a semi professional orchestra associated with and sponsored by a school, containing a mix of professional and youth musicians. Some of these are indeed very talented kids from schools. Others are professional musician graduates of music schools. I believe that the only specification for membership (besides great musicianship) is that you must still be considered a "Youth". (broadly speaking that is)!

    This is a completely brilliant video. The cuts from musician to the whole orchestrate to another musician are perfectly timed, and the conductor and all the young players are impossible not to like. I'm reminded how the "can can" phenomenon has so over-exposed (pun not intended) the "gallop" finale music that the audio alone can sound vapid. But when you watch this orchestra play it, and see the joy on so many faces as they blast out the melody all at once, it sounds fresh again. Just great!

    Great jumping jack music from where the "can can" actually starts-about 7:36 to the end! Amazing rendition! I used to dance to this as a kid and now at 71 am "dancing" to it again!

    I've just realised I share birthdays with Jacques Offenbach!
    When I was at Teachers Training College, the Music Deprtment and the Theatre Club staged 'Orpheus In The Underworld'. (1970)
    I was co-stage manager.
    It was brilliant (although I say it myself) and a highlight in my life.
