The Korean in the beginning means "Stay forever my Demian". The book Demian by German author Hermann Hesse is about Emil Sinclair, who is a young boy raised in a middle class home, amidst what is described as a "Scheinwelt" (a play on words meaning "world of light" as well as "world of illusion"), so the entire existence can be summarised as a struggle between two worlds: the show world of illusion and the real world, the world of spiritual truth. Accompanied and prompted by his mysterious classmate and friend "Max Demian", he detaches from and revolts against the superficial ideals of the world of appearances and eventually awakens into a realization of self. It is about the duality of the world, and Dreamcatcher know quite a bit about duality. 😉 I believe that is also why they cover half of their face in the choreo. The choreo was done by SuA, and she did a brilliant job! Musically I really enjoy Demian, it has some elements of ProgRock in it, which is one of my beloved genres of music.
Hi, Some background for the choreo: The lyrics refers to the German novel Demian by Hermann Hesse (written in 1919) For some reason it is really popular in Korea. (Blood sweat and tears by BTS - and the entire series basically - is also using it as a reference) Quick summary from Wikipedia: The key concepts of the novel are duality and a words play on two worlds "world of light" and "world of illusion". The entire existence of the protagonist (Emil Sinclair, a young boy) can be summarized as a struggle between two worlds: the show world of illusion and the real world. Accompanied and prompted by his mysterious classmate and friend 'Max Demian' he detaches from and revolts against the superficial ideals of the world of appearances and eventually awakens into a realization of self. Max Demian is a childhood friend and a mentor of Sinclair. Demian leads Sinclair to his eventual self-realization, and may be considered Emil's daemon - lesser deity or guiding spirit. Some example references from the Lyric: "I can break through your firmly standing orbit into your universe" two worlds, I want to reach from my fake to your real world. "I can still see the world with half of my heart covered" "hide behind a fake version of me" refers to the internal duality of my true self and what I show to the world shown at 4:16 in the choreography. The Dami rap section is pretty much the internal battle - struggle - itself (with the venting of anger 4:04). I want to break (4:09 in choreo) this sophisticated egg and move on, aka get rid of the duality and show my true self. It feels the jump of Dami at 3:52 is exactly that breaking out moment, while the "Break the wall" by Handong 3:42 also refers to this among to a shout out to their other song. And finally at 4:49 JiU comes to the light showing herself. So all in all big congrats to Sua for this choreography, it is really really good. For the Lyrics the color coded videos or the member line distribution videos are some of the best sources. Demian Color Coded: th-cam.com/video/EULAAThe744/w-d-xo.html Demian Member Line Distribution: th-cam.com/video/Yd6YKtfz3bk/w-d-xo.html And yes, this is not even a title track, "just" a B-side with so much depth and attention to the lyrics and on the choreo. Title tracks are even deeper as they are organized into story lines and the M/V shows the story itself along with small parts of the choreography. Moreover the lyrics of the title tracks often show duality as it can be interpreted as a message in general while it has meanings in the context of the actual story.
Thanks for checking out Demian! Here's a list of the members at 1:12 in your video when they're all lined up at the beginning of the song. From left to right Gahyun - lead rapper, vocalist, maknae (youngest) Jiu - Leader, lead dancer, lead vocalist, visual Dami - main rapper, lead dancer, vocalist Siyeon - Main vocalist Sua - Main dancer, lead rapper, vocalist (she choreographed this song and based on her comments in the bts video directed a lot of it as well) Handong - vocalist, only foreign member (Chinese) Yoohyeon - lead vocalist The [Special Clip] title is used for performance & dance videos for b-sides and covers so anything you find with that tag will be from one of those categories. Demian is a b-side from their Apocalypse: From Us album and this was Sua's second time choreographing for an official song.
dreamcatcher \:D/ special clips are basically low budget videos for their album b-sides. for demian, it's just a dance video. one of their members, sua, made the choreo for this. while demian isn't a good example since it has a lot of rock elements, most of their b-sides are actually non-rock and touch just about every genre of music. so even if you aren't into rock/metal, there will definitely be a dreamcatcher song you will vibe with 100% lol. a couple of non-rock b-sides with similar dance videos is red sun and shatter. don't worry about captions, just vibe with the music and choreo. you can always check out lyric videos afterwards for their abstract meanings lol.
Siyeon gets her name mispronounced all the time because of the spelling in English alphabet, it's pronounced she-yawn. It's difficult to not fall for her she is as funny as she is good at singing. Their main dancer SuA choreographed this. She's really good at making sure each member got their spotlight moments.
Some facts about this song in general: It's from their mini album "Apocalypse: From us" and the tilte track is Bon Voyage! Also, the choreography was made by SuA, the main dancer in dreamcatcher (but honestly, she is good at everything: she knows how to dance, sing and rap). You can search for lyrics videos for the translations! And I'm going to recommend a chinese singer: G.E.M! She is so talented, my suggestions for her music are: Miss Similar and Selfless.
I recomand to look again at the songs with the Mvs with captcher becauce the lyrics are very importan for them ^.^ and...please film it for us ❤ thanks for reacting
Hey great reaction 😊 Dreamcatcher are definitely a very talented underrated group. I do highly recommend you watch their 2 Rings (Showcase ver.) video. It’s a spicy video for sure haha 🥵🔥👍
@@jmarv2006When Dreamcatcher wants to be sexy they don't take things off, they put on suits. Demian and the 2 Rings Showcase throw long-time fans topsy turvy because there is way more bare arms and midriff than we're used to, lovingly known as Abcatcher.
Here is a lyric video th-cam.com/video/_eHaFlXF_Gk/w-d-xo.html The song was inspired by Hermann Hesse's novel Demian. The story is a about a young man becoming an adult and trying to find his identity in a confusing world. A classic coming of age story. th-cam.com/video/ZYWlE5ZTj2U/w-d-xo.html This version is a more poetic translation while the lyric video is trying to be literal which is difficult to do with Korean language.
