@8:38 I made the mistake of investing in an ELSS fund, which now has a 3-year lock-in period. Are there any options to potentially shorten this period or redeem the investment earlier?
Unfortunately, ELSS funds have a mandatory 3-year lock-in period due to their tax-saving nature under Section 80C. It's designed to encourage long-term investing, but once the lock-in is over, you can redeem or switch to another investment based on your financial goals.
Please Make all these videos in English as well. We dont understand Hindi inbetween. Seeing the Subtitles & following Charts and other illustrations makes hard to connect.
Starting with 2 funds is fine as long as they are from different categories and match your risk profile. For example, an index fund is a good choice for stability, while small-cap or mid-cap funds suit higher risk-takers. If tax benefits are a priority, ELSS can be an option. As you learn more, you can gradually diversify with additional funds.
So disconcerting that she is not looking at me when she is talking :( A stock's value is justified only through its potential dividends. No reasonable person will invest in a stock if the company announces it will never pay dividends. If so, how is it reasonable to say that reinvesting dividends is "compounding" at @8:05?
When a company announces it will never pay dividends. That does not mean that the company does not have the potential to pay dividends. It just using that potential dividends to reinvest in the business. You still want to invest when you believe the management is effective and the business keeps growing because of the reinvested dividends.
@@varsitybyzerodha I understand that. However, I am uncomfortable with the word "compounding" in this context since it implies that the total amount of money we receive will only increase. In the case of stocks, that is simply not true. Isnt it? About the dividend part, I was talking of an *imaginary* situation where a company will announce that it will not pay dividends in its entire lifetime. Dividends are one of the only ways share holders (as a whole and over lifetime of the stock) can make money. We know everyone is planning to buy low and sell higher. Without dividends (ever) and assuming a company's finite lifetime, somebody will eventually be unable to make money. This is the 'madness of the crowds'.
Hello mam, could you kindly suggest whether GROWW, AngelOne, Zerodha (any direct platform) assist nominee to get settlement amount from Mutual Fund companies in case of policy holder’s death?
Great suggestion! We’ve planned a detailed discussion on taxes in Episode 8 of this series. The episode will be out shortly-keep an eye on our channel!

Is it good to just invest in 2 funds irrespective of how much the SIP amount is?
It's better to invest in 2 different funds so that you reduce the overlap of stocks that the MFs invest in.
Starting with 2 funds is fine as long as they are from different categories and match your risk profile. For example, an index fund is a good choice for stability, while small-cap or mid-cap funds suit higher risk-takers. If tax benefits are a priority, ELSS can be an option.
