I guess that is one reason I like this show: it restores my faith in mankind to see how many good people are willing to help in an emergency. From that conflagration, it really took a set to go get into the wreckage and pull her out ! And how do they get these re-enactments so realistic ? Some of them must have been pretty high-budget to re-create.

  • @Hammerhead547

I remember watching a show on one of the science tv channels back in high school (late 90's/early 00's) that was about how they created stunts and special effects for movies and TV shows.
One of the episodes featured the stunt coordinator and special effects supervisor for Rescue 911 and they were interviewed at length, they talked all about how they filmed the show and how they preserved the realism of every recreation by doing all the effects and stunts live in camera.
One of the segments actually featured behind the scenes footage of them filming the accident scene in this story shot from a secondary camera on the camera truck that was filming the recreation of the accident itself.
I wish I could remember the name of the show itself but the interview was actually quite fascinating because they explained how they filmed different events and even showed off their "boneyard" of wrecked cars that had been used in recreations of car accidents along with some behind the scenes footage of them burning a house down to film a house fire segment.

Is it just me, or is there NO shoulder on that highway? There was definitely some safety issues with the highway there - a paved shoulder with rumble strips (the norm today) could have awakened her and prevented at least getting under as she could have steered it back some. Also the traffic volumes there probably warrant 6 lanes.

yeah, i don't think even a fully loaded semi should take that long to stop. i know that his brakes wouldn't squeal constantly like that, though. THe car going under wasn't exactly like christmas vacation, was it?
