@user-rz2nj6cj9p Here is what you said in English because people need to know: You said “ This footage was recorded by a television station (TBS) in 1961 when Nat King Cole visited Japan for the first time. He returned to Japan in 1963 and was scheduled to visit Japan for the third time , but unfortunately he was unable to do so because he died of lung cancer. The Japanese version of “Kareha” was released as a single in Japan and the back side included “ Lonely One” from the LP “ After Midnight “ Thanks rz2nj6cj9p for that information. 😊

@@rakeroll5413 Ah, I gotcha! Yeah, I can’t find a definitive answer on that one word, but it feels weird that nobody corrected him if it’s wrong. I keep feeling like it might be old-style (like, old even for the era it was written), poetic style maybe, but I can’t find anything that confirms. Anyway thanks!
this is so fucking cool A french Cancion, translated to an english version, which was then translated into Japanese, and then sung by this guy in the 1950's holy fuck that's awesome
Wow! What an Amazing Job singing in Japanese! We miss you so much beloved Brother, Nat.! Rest in Peace and make the Angels happy with your sweet, velvety, beautiful, soothing voice!
Amazing to know the amazing Nat King Cole had Japanese version as well aside from french and english. I wonder if had recorded other more languanges of this song. Lovely!
To all the people commenting that they only knew he sung in X language but not Japanese, or there's a version in Y language too... Nat King Cole, if I recall correctly, was not in any way bilingual... he only SPOKE English.... .....BUT.... he actually learned to sing many of his songs in MULTIPLE Languages. English Spanish German French Italian Japanese. So you'll find a great number of his songs, especially those you hear in another non-English language, exist in another such language too. The exception being songs from those languages, I believe. Ergo, if he learned a Japanese song, or had one written for him, he would NOT translate that to English, or another language, if he was singing a Spanish song, he'd sing it in Spanish even in Germany. But if he was singing a English language song, in one of those other countries, he'd often sing them in the native language of that country. More, he'd record them too. So unlike many Artists, who have great songs popular in another language, but get recorded in that language by popular demand, by some successful local performer, when you bought record of Nat King Cole songs in Spanish, or French or Japanese etc.... it was NAT himself singing them too.
thanks for sharing that info! I wondered how this came about. Nat seems like a really dope dude. Will continue listening to his non-english renditions now. So good!
Not only a beautiful voice and great jazz pianist but a beautiful human being too! When I read how he was treated in States during segregation times I feelashamed to be white. When he passed away he was mourned by millions ; of all races ! And still is...
2msvalkyrie He's talent is not a black thing, it his own. Do not appropriate individual people's talent/ achievements/ hard work to others that are not him/her self.
Lindo ❤️😍😍 inteligente 🧠

Romaji lyrics
Madobe ni shibiyuku
Namiki no kareha yo
Omoi de kanahashi ku
Shinobu wa natsu no ni
Kimi ga o de yasashiku
Watashi o iida kite
Suki seinu koi no yume ni
Katarashi anohi
The fallen leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips the summer kisses
The sunburn hands i used to hold
Since you went away
The days roll on and soon I'll hear old winters song
kana shiki ai no yume ni shibi yuku kokoro
