That's a post-apocalyptic vehicle if ever there was one. Great fun and nice vid man.
Thanks 👍
I have to honestly say that knowing your a tall guy if I saw you in the woods drive by on that it would be an epic Canadian moment !!! and I would be laughting my butt off awesome video
I know - I look ridiculous on that thing :)
@@outdoorsonthecheapI got a ruckus at 6’7 it’s hilarious Ahahaha
Quite a difference compared to the original tires!
A very nice scooter overall! (I would not worry much about how I looked on one.)
Got my ruckus in 2007 when I was 17 to start my credit. Got it brand new off the showroom floor. I'm 35 now and I'm still rocking the original tires. Was thinking of some tires just like that
They work!
My wife owns a Ruckus and I put knobbies on it. It made all the difference in the world. We mainly ride it on dirt roads both wet and dry. Nice video.
Right on!
Definitely considering getting tires like this if I ever have to change my tires on my scoot! Would be cool to be able to go on dirt trails as well as my regular commute!
Very nice vid on the Ruckus with the new tires. It’s a bike I’ve been looking at for similar use in Florida. It’s not a matter of fast it’s a matter of sure. Appreciate all your efforts. Keep on rocking it.😁👍
Right on!
I love my Ruckus. Great video.
Right on
Great video I've wondered if this could be done!
Great video! Im a little late to the party, but what an interesting approach to getting outdoors! Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great channel man love the videos!
Appreciate it!
I'm just glad my fishing spot is in my backyard and all I have to contend with is a 40ft bank...
Absolutely awsome video brother
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow that does real good off-road I might get one have to get the tires you have though
Thanks Greg for your video! I live in a low mountain range in NW France... The roads are good but typically muddy and gravelly
I'll order these Maxxis tyres from your recommendation. Cheers and beers! ;)
Happy trials sir & bon chance!
Id hate to have to clean underside of the ruckus after this ride lol, i got a 2024 ruckus and I had it for 6 weeks, got 450 miles on it and love how cheap it is to maintain and gas is great
Wasn't pretty but she's still running fine
great video man, I also own a small scooter and I've always wonder if it would be worth it to put some off roady tires on it and just go out and have some fun, hopefully you still posting, there are not a lot of channels with this type of content.
Thanks - no worries - this channel is just getting started - more to come sir :)
Great video!
Thanks!
Good stuff. Thank you. I am looking at putting your tires set up, on a Honda Navi. I don't recall which model of Subaru you have.. A few years back I was at a dealer with a friend and they had this 2" body lift and 2" suspension lift called the scorpion package. It was on a Subaru Baja. Essentially a WRX with a little pick-up bed. Very reminiscent of the Subaru Brat but with 4 doors. It had 12.4" of clearance.
Wow! that's serious clearance!
I take my 2007 bws off roading quite often and the only problem I have is ground clearance. Otherwise it’s amazing the traction I get. I’m out in BC so im driving out in the mountains.
You never slipped around during the video, I would say those tires served you well!
You got that right!
Cool 😎
We spend time in Nova Scotia and tick season is upon us. You must encounter many of these in your outdoor adventures. How do you deal with them? Maybe a topic for a quick video on your experiences with ticks
Great suggestion - It's on my list :)
Sawyers with permethrin on your clothes, tent sleeping bag boots and bloom your socks. no ticks at all th-cam.com/video/9Ezb1uSgGSs/w-d-xo.html
by bloom your socks I mean get long ones and spray them and pull them up over your sprayed pants so the bugs have to crawl all the way up to your neck line and the permethrin paralyzes them and they fall of within seconds. spray your clothes and stuff and it last for like a month and several washings. night and day without it. don't waste your money on OFF or deet
Question for you please. Can a 6’ tall man be confortable enough for riding a Ruckus? I have been thinking to buy one for a couple of years now, but without being able to try one before, I hesitate. I am 6’ and 185 lb.
I would use the Ruckus mainly for riding on forestry roads going fishing or mushrooms picking and grouse hunting. Thanks in advance. Great videos, I am going to subscribe.
I'm 6'4". It would not be my choice for long distance riding or anything like that, but for getting back in the woods, or short rides, that sort of thing, it's OK. I don't find myself to be in increasing discomfort with every 10 minutes - as I do with an airplane seat, or most dinner tables for instance.
Hey what's the name of the offroad tires???
I think I'lll stick to my CRF300L Rally. 🙃 Nice tires though, good ones are a game changer indeed.
Ha ha - yes I think you've got me beat there :)
I use my mini bike for the same thing, just my bike was street legal.
Fellow NS Ruckus owner here. Now that youve had the dual sport tires on for a while how do you find them? Do you notice any detrimental affects on paved roads? I have 8500kms on my Ruk and the rear tire soon needs replacing - considering these dual sporg tires if they still perform well on street sd that is the bulk if my driving. Appreciate your feedback.
I only really use it offroad, and just drive in the street to run the engine. Can't speak to how they hold up with extended use on the road. Very happy with the offroad performance.
That is fun
You bet :)
Great setup! What capacity dry bags are you using here?
Thanks. They are 15 liter dry bags
How about the suspension travel is it enough for the pot holes. I have a honda monkey, but would like to see how it compares to a ruckus
Suspension is not ideal for a heavy person. I think maxload is 225 - and I'm 215 - so with a pack I'm over the limit, so I have to take it easy (or lose weight) :)
two subs to go!
I was looking at those tires, but they are only listed in "120/70-12", and the ruckus rim is a 10", not a 12". Were they available in a different size at the time? Really struggling to find a good offroad tire for my ruckus
They were not easy to find back then - I have no idea where to get them now if the info provided in the vid doesn't help sorry man
@@outdoorsonthecheap Thanks anyway! Enjoy the trails
Take the key!
You should take that on a overnight in the woods 👍
That's what I was doing in this vid - I just didn't shoot the camping part
Is it a stock Ruckus or did you modify it in someway?
The ruckus is stock but I change the tires to the dualsport tires
😎👍
Does your Ruckus still run okay after all the offroading?
So far so good.
@@outdoorsonthecheap Cool I'm going to offroad a lot now. Thanks! have fun
Nice video, but I think you have your front and rear tyre sizes reversed, at least by the on-screen information.
The 130/90-10 goes in front
That's why I commented. Reviews I have watched on TH-cam say the opposite. I have now checked 2 motorcycle websites and they also say 130 to the rear. In the end it really doesn't matter to me, as I don't own one. It struck me as something I never heard of before, having the larger footprint to the front, and just thought that if it is not a typo, you may have a reason for reversing the recommended configuration.
They were installed at a motorcycle shop. For offroad your front wheel should be larger than the back to offer a more comfortable ride while driving over the rough terrain.
im also curious this as well. you mentioned comfort; but how much more effective is this configuration. i have a 2024 ruckus and you inspired me to get knobbie tires. just seems a staggered set up goes larger in the back for practical reasons
Maxxis shows 120/70 and 130/70 not /90. ? (Fun video)
I wonder if they don't carry them anymore?
Very Greasy
Hey brother I just got a honda trail 125 man I like that logging trail u said u go fishing back there or just camping 🏕️
Fishing and hunting and camping when I do either. Honda 125 is what I wanted but can't get then where I live - so I went with the ruckus
