I have one of the LG Ultra wide 34" monitors with I use for work and I LOVE IT. its just wonderful. Easy to read and the REALLY cool part is that I have fewer cable running around on my desk network, audio and USB all on the Thunderbolt cable.. Best piece of technology that I've bought in a long time.
I have the LG 34wk500 its the same size but not curved and its 1080p, same idea I got it for probably 1/3 of this one and honestly if your getting a monitor, its definitely worth getting the ultrawide ones.
@@tonya.missih346 Uncurved 1080p model, on a 34" inch UW. No thanks, same problem as a 16:9 27" monitor with 1080p resolution. Physical panel size, too big for that resolution. The 3440x1440p is the resolution to get. There's a reason, you got your monitor cheap, no one that knows their stuff, buys them for any sort of work related stuff. And no curve on these sizes, are just way too wide for the majority of users.
I have this monitor in the flat 29" version for work and I have to say it is great for editing video, drafting, Photoshop and for less than $350 it is a great deal for the production crowd. I recommend it!
With thunderbolt accessories, do they need an external power source or is the thunderbolt powering them? I still haven't played with any of these things, as I do not own anything thunderbolt.
I got a non curved ultrawide and it cost me 200$. Best 200$ I ever spent. Seriously, I hate the feeling of working or gaming on anything other than an ultrawide now.
How good are curved monitors for a side-by-side triple monitor set up? Or is it better to just have two curved monitors next to each other and maybe another one or two above them? It seems like putting three curved monitors side-by-side would make it so that you're practically surrounded by the monitors, not really leaving them as an efficient viewing setup.
Nice Lou. How is this compared to a 40" 4k curved TV as a monitor replacement? Seems like that would be the more practical setup for the general population, basically getting 4 x 1080p screens stuck together. The dpi would be 110 which is similar to a 27" 1440p monitor.
If you're rich you could buy everything you wanted. Then, eventually when you have everything; You've got nothing to be hyped about. So no, it would not be good.
Hampus Rose Yeah, I'm thinking the same...Nothing has a value once you're rich because you know you can have everything. But when you spend half a year collecting for something, than it feels like a reward.
Hum, how much of the Rec 2020 color space does it cover? Does it have support for adaptive sync from one of the two GPU vendors? And if it does, what minimum and maximum refresh rate does it have? Those things are kind of important to me at least. (Just checked and it does have freesync support, although those other ones are still a open question)
Will the LG model work with Thunderbolt 2 / HDMI Mac mini’s, MacBook Pro (same I/O), and the behemoth Mac Pro PCI DVI dual miniDisplayPort graphics card? Thanks in advance 🤞🏽
nah, I own a ultrawide, and use it for gaming, it's so amazing in games, the colors are amazing, and most games do support 21:9 now, it has become such a big thing nowadays
^ That. Right there. Theorycraft pros who read shit online talk like they've tried things, and know not. "Boy, this 4k big screen thing sucks. Let's go back to 27 inch 1080p" - Noone ever.
Just wait till Sony's CLEDIS display is out, its not LCD or OLED, it's something above and beyond. - 1000 nits of brightness - 4K resolution @ 240Hz - Color accuracy beyond OLED and color range entire BTU.2020 colorspace (200% of today's OLEDs) - Absolute pure blacks at 0 nits at individual pixels - Size doesn't matter, its very easy to produce - No bezel, it can be tiled together to form 8K and 16K displays @240Hz (bezel will not be visible at all) - It will be super cheap to buy
Man Utd Legend Right now CLEDIS is in mass production for large outdoor panels with 2000 nits of brightness. I'm just hoping they come to TVs and monitors. OLED and LCD will both be dead then.
Man Utd Legend No it won't. It will take about 2-3 more years. Sony already had tons working protoypes since 2012. They've been showing it off every year and its been getting better and better. Its already in mass production for large sizes so all the have to do now is just figure out how to make the LEDs smaller and output similar brightness or atleast 500 nits.
I have the 31" 17:9 Digital Cinema 4K IPS LED Monitor (31" Diagonal) and I am running it at 4096 x 2160. How does this monitor compare? Will you ever "Open Box" this LG monitor?
I've had a Dell 34" ultrawide at the same res for a while now, for a desktop it works extremely well. One great feature is the ability to run two sources side by side at 1720x1440, as far as I know the other 34" monitors didn't have that feature. 34" ultrawide is a great size, you don't feel like you have a giant TV sitting in your face like when I tried to use a 40" 4K TV as a monitor.
is Thunderbolt aven Going to be Relevant Because of the New USB-C Ports Coming out ( and this is Not a Smart Ass Remark ) will any adapters from any ports like thunderbolt -Usb 3 - or even Firewire to USB-C Be Bottle necked ? Thanks
Expensive... Always expensive... Review something us non youtuber peasants can afford plez... :)... He doesn't read his comments... ... ... too many dots?
I definitely agree that 34" 3440x1440 monitors are amazing and are my favorite size/resolution right now. I went for the Acer Predator X34 for the 100hz refresh rate and G-Sync. It is so nice to not have tearing or stuttering in games now. The drawback to some would be the fact that I needed 2 Asus ROG GTX 980ti Matrix Platinum in SLI ($$$ for this setup) to get the kinds of frame rates I wanted with the details cranked up in new AAA games like Rise of the Tomb Raider or DOOM. I got pretty lucky with zero dead pixels and very minimal light bleed in the very extreme top corners.
So would this be good for my ps4? I assume there is no sound involved in this monitor so I would have to buy external speakers along with it so that's a downside.
My recently purchased overpriced gtx 960 sc has no thunderbolt port. I noticed that there is a version of this monitor with no thunderbolt port. Would using hdmi or dvi have a noticable difference assuming I could afford this monitor lol?
I have the LG 34um95 and absolutely love it. I was kind of skeptical because it doesn't have a curve, but I'm glad I bought it. It is absolutely beautiful and if you have a setup to fully utilize the resolution you won't regret it. My only complaint is that HDMI input only has 50hz refresh rate. I can get 60 through DP 1.2. I have yet to try over clocking this monitor. However I'm still extremely satisfied.
I love peeling off that plastic and revealing super shiny untouched plastic. It's delicious sometimes when you've had a gadget for a while and suddenly you realise there's a plastic coating on a bit of it you forgot peel off! Oh that's a real treat that is. OK, this monitor is delicious, I don't want to look at the price because then reality sets in and right now I just want to go with it, enjoy it, feel like that this is the monitor for me. Finally I've decided that this guy does the only unboxings on the whole internet that I enjoy. I may change my mind on that one day but right now this is the unboxing channel for me and I'm going to keep on enjoying it.
Which monitor should I get, the acer 34 inch curved qhd, or this. I would use mostly for productivity, might hook up a console. Not sure which is best. Thanks. And the acer predator is also an option, but don't know how useful it is if I'm not a serious gamer.
It's cool and all, but it's more for a consumer perspective. From the standpoint of a content creator, it's convenient for work real estate to spread things out, but for things like video capture or gameplay footage it's probably such an obscure resolution to work with. Definitely cool, but most content creators will probably want to stick with 1080p or the upcoming 4k standard.
I'm considering buying this monitor, but since this video is a year old, I wonder if there is an upgraded version. is anyone who knows or any rumors, thoughts? (it's the ultrawide 4k that appeals to me)
Hi there, great review as always, Whats the best was to connect a 2017 MacBook Pro to this monitor. The mbp has thunderbolt 3 and the Lg has thunderbolt 2, I don't really want a dongle like apples one sitting on top of the desk. Are their any other solutions. Thanks Sean
I am getting an LG Ultra Wide... but because I do graphic design on it, I can't make myself think that the curved one would be ok , and not distort images. So I'm leaning heavily on their flat one. A bit cheaper as well. And for those of you who might not know this, LG is one of the suppliers for the iMac monitors. So the color gamut and pixel density is exactly the same.
Wow that is a stunning monitor. Can you run a triple/quad video card to split the screen up? I trade the stock markets and it would be perfect if I could watch multiple charts of markets on one beautiful screen.
I'm pretty happy with my $500 Asus MG278. Its 27 inch, 1 ms, 1440P, Freesynch, 144 hz, anti ghosting feature plus pixel sharpening, and you can turn it vertical for portrait view or change height and tilt it left or right up or down. This thing here costs way too much, at $1000.
