This song was not played in any of the _Back to the Future_ movies. The two songs performed by Huey Lewis and The News in _BTTF_ are "The Power of Love" and "Back in Time."

And yes another confirmation of your words. FUN - we had fun. We also choose to have fun. I feel so lucky to have been a teen in the eighties. Everything in today's world is taken too seriously - everything! Sadly I can't see people lighting up much. Everyone seems to busy divulging in massive self-pity. Exception being Half and Jai - you two are just awesome in every way! Cheers to my fellow eighties fans.
P.S. Did you know that hipster mag, Rolling Stone actually bagged this song to shreds. I think they called it the worst of the year. I know that is impossible to believe. RS never did like HLN as they didn't fit the hipster image. Remember the great song Hip to Be Square.
P.P.S Check out Johnny Colla's I Hear Voices CD - very happy upbeat and fun.

They had 2 tracks on the soundtrack, Back in time, was the alarm that woke Marty up. Then of course the main track they played through the first movie. I think this might have been background when Marty was skateboarding to school. Not sure though.

For other great songs of theirs: "I Want A New Drug" and "Heart and Soul"
Huey appeared in the movie - he was the music show critic Marty tried out for with a megaphone - telling Marty he was "too darned loud" as Marty played HIS song "Power of Love" on the guitar. Cute moment in the movie for those who knew.

Huey is from the San Fran Rock scene of the late 60's and early 70's. In the 80's when he was already in his 40's BOOM he scores and scores big. Huge list of hits all crammed into about 7 years. Did Rock n Roll when it had fell out of fashion and kind of helped bring it back.
He is one of the finest harmonica players in the world and learned from the legend himself Paul Butterfield. Before the 80's he got a big break playing with, of all bands, Thin Lizzy (The Irish Metal band) and they listed him on the record as Blue Huey. You can hear him on their live album.

The lead singer Huey played the teacher in Back To The Future, and their song The Power Of Love was the theme for that movie and appeared in the earliest scenes of the first movie, and he cuts Marty off.. Hope that clears up some of the confusion. Lots you both. Hugs from Newfoundland

Man, Hugh Anthony Cregg III and his News were one of my all-time FAVORITES back in the 80s! I've seen them in concert pretty much everywhere--her in my home state of Illinois (both in Peoria and Chicago), NYC, LA, and San Francisco, where he's from...which was his best concert, honestly. Still have every one of his albums--some of my most treasured vinyl. PS. I could dance like nobody's business "back in the day" - now, at 56, nope. lol

By now I'm sure you've realized that this song is not in Back to the Future. But please do MORE Huey!!! TONS of good music! The Power of Love and Back in Time ARE in the Back to the Future movies. There's also I Want a New Drug, Working For a Living, Bad is Bad, If This is It, Hip to be Square, It's Alright, Heart and Soul. Walking on a Thin Line, Do You Believe in Love, and more. The harmonica playing, the great song writing, the bluesy harmonies. This is an underrated band to be sure! Please find time to check them out. Just fun feel good music!

Don't say you can't dance, it's just a state of mind and you just have to want to do it. Dancing, like music, is life and you have to put your best foot forward. It doesn't matter if it's ballroom, jazz, ballet, jitterbug, latin, tango, the bump, the Hustle, line dancing, any dancing at all. If you want to do it, you will do it.

"The Heart of rock & roll" is a comentary of how the Rock & Roll sound changed over the years from its roots. that is why they put in black and white flash back clips of famous 1950's artists.and why the band is mostly in BW. that is one reason why Huey Lewis and the news sounds the way it does. kind of a throwback yet with a slight modern (at the time) twist to their songs. a lot of sax in their songs. again a throwback to the 50's sound, with a bit more R&B add in.

I was hooked on Huey Lewis and The News when I saw them perform "Working for a Living" on Solid Gold. I hate they had the problem with Ray Parker jr. when he did the theme for Ghostbusters.

My first exposure to anything by Huey & The News was an amazing song called "I Want A New Drug" when I was in like 5th grade (yes I really am old... lol). A year later I got to see them at my local amusement park's outdoor amphitheater during High School Senior Night. Got in trouble with my mom for sneaking into an age restricted concert when I got home. But it was worth it

"The Power Of Love" is the song by Huey Lewis and the News that's in 'Back to the Future' not "Heart of Rock 'n' Roll"

Huey also acted. He was the teacher that during try out for the school talent contest in BTTF he told Marty his band was too loud. He played one of the bad security guards in Die Hard also.

This is the kind of music my parents would listen to when we went to my aunt and uncle's and all the kids had to stay upstairs while the adults partied
