Installing the Valion seed tube guard for no till planting with a John Deere MaxEmergePlus planter

In this video, we demonstrate how to install the Valion seed tube guard on a John Deere MaxEmergePlus planter for use in no till planting. This Valion seed tube guard will also fit John Deere 7000s, John Deere 7100, John Deere 7200, John Deere 7300 and Kinze 2000 series planters.

Hi I’m Tom from Exapta Solutions and we’re installing our Valion seed tube guard on a John Deere MaxEmergePlus planter. This Valion seed tube guard will also fit John Deere 7000s, John Deere 7100, John Deere 7200, John Deere 7300 and Kine 2000 series planters.
OK, so you can see we already cleaned up our holes. We installed our wings. We’re going to insert the bushings into the holes, like so. I’m going to stick them up in there. Try to line the bushings up with the center. I like to use an alignment tool to get my holes lined up. You start at the back-you don’t start at the front because you can use the Valion itself as a leverage point.
Just get that nut started. When you do tighten the back nut, do not tighten it with an impact wrench because they will strip. We’re going to use our alignment tool to line up the front. Jam more rivets in there. And you want to get a rivet tool that has a little bigger diameter die in it. Screw that on there like so and then start cranking. It makes it easier if you have a brake tool.
Then we take our tool and our rivet is nice and tight in there. Take your half inch wrench and your allen key. Tighten up that back one. And don’t over tighten because you can strip them out. You have a little bit of play but not too much. There’s our install of the Valion seed tube guard for no till farming.
