    Sure is nice to have your animals broke to a single hot wire. Only takes me about 15 minutes to put up a new paddock division and roll up the old one. Poly braid and geared reels are a game changer. I hope you get some rain down there. Have a wonderful day.

      Thanks George! Definitely a game changer and inexpensive in the big picture. It’s nice to place the paddock fence where it works best depending on the size of paddock you need based on how much grass is available that time of year.

    I have a lot cotton land that is interseeded with cover crops. I'd love to run cattle on it but with no permanent fence it makes it impossible.......really enjoying your videos

      It would be stressful but would probably work with 2 hot wires and cattle broke to electricity. I probably wouldn’t sleep very well though. Thanks for reaching out!

    Those taraposts look like they work real good.
    We just picked up about 2 inches of rain over the weekend. We were really hurting. We should have about 8+ inches by now and we were less than 5 inches.

    Thanks for sharing those terra posts, I'm going to have to pick up some. Corners have given me fits. We also have an area where we cross a gravel road with a high middle so you have to put some kind of support. Too hard and deep to use a step in. I've been taking 3 step ins and tying the tops to make a tripod which kind of works but the cows have knocked it over a few times. Anyway, at least you helped me solve one problem, haha

    Nice equipment Mr. Cliff. I got in a situation two years ago and had to buy some step in post from my local big box store (the name rhymes with Kural Ring) and those post were the absolute worst money I have ever spent. Very flimsy and light weight. I probably broke 20 out of 50 in the first 2 uses. I only have 6 or so left and I only use them to mark sink holes as I find them

    • @cliffhonnasregenerativerancher
      @cliffhonnasregenerativerancher  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I did the same. The ones I purchased had a plastic clip the wire fit down into. Took two hands to get the wire out as you had to move the clip away from the post and it often broke off. Totally mind numbing and useless. The O’Brien posts are easy to use, well made and the clip doesn’t break off. Definitely the best step in post. Thanks for commenting!

      The ones from stactor tupply are garbage too. The ones that come out of new Zealand and Australia are good. We have had O'Brien's for about 4 years and only managed to break a few . Most of those were from using them as corner posts or running over with the tractor (what? The grass was tall, give me a break, haha)

    Great info Cliff. I am new to electric fence and am in the middle of setting up my system. My plan is to have a single high tensile wire running strategically through my place in parallel to my permanent barbed wire fences. That way I can hook my reels into the system at any point. Should provide lots of options. In a future video, could you show and talk about your grounding system?

    • @cliffhonnasregenerativerancher
      @cliffhonnasregenerativerancher  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Definitely, that’s on the list. Probably this week! The single high tensile wire is a good idea as well. I considered that but decided I didn’t want to have to work around it in the pastures, so decided to prune polybraid. It’s interesting how my paddock separations as evolved as I’ve tried different things.

    • @TheKajunkat
      @TheKajunkat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're using the same posts as the barb wire I would recommend using the long stand offs and, if possible, putting it on the opposite side of posts from the wire. We have had a devil of a time with the electric getting wrapped up in the barbed when we get bad winds. The only place we have not seen it is where we have the long stand offs

    • @ericbradley4204
      @ericbradley4204 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I stretched the high tensile wire parallel to my barbed wire fences using PVC tee posts. I stayed about 8-10inches off of the other fence so I shouldn't have any of those problems. I didn't want to deal with those flimsy tee post isolators.

    • @TheKajunkat
      @TheKajunkat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ericbradley4204 that is a much better way. We're planning to demolish the whole fence line and go back with high tensile 5 strands with 2 of them electrified so we're just dealing with it until then.
