I was a bit bemused when you started talking about the snowman but as you started to place it I began to see what it was for! I will have a look at my manual for my machine, a V3, but I think it will be OK with a small sticker with the crosshatch and a colour for the top of the hoop. There is no way I would ever be able to afford the magnetic frame though I really want one! I'm in the UK so customs charges would be astronomical as well if it can be sent overseas. I have plenty of time to decide how I will hoop my quilt as it is miles (years?) from being at the quilting stage!!! Your quilt is lovely. My trouble is that I'm not patient enough to begin with a small quilt and bought a kit for a king size one! Stupid really. I have been pondering how I will quilt it so thanks for this video. Very helpful. Can't wait for the next one.
you can do any of this quilting on any embroidery machine, you don't have to have the fancy hoops etc. you can print your templates and place them where you want using a placement sticker, hoop and you can adjust it on the machine so that your needle hits the mark. stitch!
@@OMLembroidery Yes, thanks! One of those hoops would make it so much easier though. I am looking forward to more videos from you with quilting. I learn so much!
Thank you for such a detailed explanation on how to place the quilting design onto the fabric. My machine does not 'read' the design or snowmen, but I shall still have a go. It is something that I have never tried before and I will need to make the mat for quilting too!
Really enjoyed this! Love the Dresden and look forward to your next video when you go to the machine. I, too, love using the Snap Hoops for quilting but haven't got the hang of using my laser to line things up. I think this will help me get to that next level. Thanks so much!
Lots of great information. I don't have a camera in m y machine so a lot of manual manipulation. I have a monster hoop for my Janome 500e and am getting up the nerve to use it so thanks for this.
I too have a JanomeMC500E and sometimes find the restriction of hoop size irritating. May I ask what size is your monster hoop and presumably you do not have a problem with fitting it to the machine? Many thanks for your time. Gill
@@gillscarisbrick645 I have the largest size of Magnetic Hoop available from DIME for the Janome 500e and it fits perfectly. The stitch area is larger than our largest hoop but the machine will only recognize designs that fit our large hoop size so cannot use the entire hoop area. Still it fits the machine easily and I have used it to embroider on placemats I bought at Dollar Store without a problem.
Informative, but too technical for me. Difficult to see this as beginner level for several reasons. First, I don't understand *why* we need Print & Stick Contact Paper as opposed to something else. I could probably find it on Amazon, etc. but I've never used it and therefore don't have a basis for comparison. And must it be that particular brand/grade? Second, *why* certain steps are performed but not explained. Why, for example, do the sides not need to match up during folding? Why did you place your pattern a certain way; you say you like it placed that way, but in relation to what goal? Beginners need to understand where you're coming from so they can reference a similar experience as an anchor.
I can only use the products that I have on hand. No you don’t have to use the same brand as I do, i am simply showing you different ways of quilting and what I have found useful to use. I believe that. Explained everything clearly, including placement and a few different ways of placing the templates.
Love your online classes and watching on Saturday and Sunday
Yay, thank you!
Wonderful lesson Sue and your quilt is gorgeous
thanks sarah!

Go for it Gill! you can use a placement sticker and then move your design so that the needle is right on the mark :) It's just as easy!
This so informative, thank you for your time.
Glad it was helpful!

@@pjdowell2 Thanks for the information Patricia - perhaps after Christmas I shall give it serious thought.
I think I will watching this about 3 dozen times trying to figure out how to use those silly snowmen!!!
Where did you get the designs from?
Sarah Vedeler and OESD
Can you please give us the name of the quilt designs and where to find them. Thank you.
