- Today we sawed some outstanding Pennsylvania Cherry on the Woodmizer LX 150 Sawmill. This log came from a blow down back in the woods. I rescued this log from down in the valley with the Wallenstein FX 85 Skidding Winch. We sawed it into 8/4 which will work great to sell or use for future projects.

You should decorate your mini cabin with the bark covered slabs you take off of your trees on the saw mill. That would look really cool out in the woods.
@Hello Russell how are you doing
Only Mother Nature can make something so beautiful. Great job guys not letting that tree go to waste.
Hi Morgans ..just thought I'd say hello from Waterford , Ireland...watch all your vids ,so many channels here are better than regularly TV..I don't always leave a comment but always give 👍. Thanks so much for opening your lives to us...
@Hello Walsh how are you doing
Hello Mr. and Mrs. Morgans. My name is Arman Poloyan. I come from Armenia and I enjoy watching your videos every day because i love Your lifestyle.
Those are some beautiful cherry slabs! Your passion for what you all do is reflected in everyone of your videos. GOOD ADVICE Melissa!
@Hello Rick how are you doing
Hey guys
You are so right about finding a job that your good at and enjoy. I was just talking to my wife this weekend and said if she isn't happy with her current job she needs to find her passion and set a goal and timeline to do what she loves. Life is way to short to just exist and not enjoy.
My passion was my retirement job, over 30 years in the fire and end service! I was told once by a very smart man that if you love your job, take pride in your job and have a little fun now and again you will never have a boring day. He was my very first boss at the age of 14, working at my high school after school and during the summer months. Thank you Charles (Chuck) McCullough!
Great video. It is good that the haters do not get you guys discouraged. That is beautiful wood you milled.
mike you and your family are a great family Love your videos
Where do those dag on stairs go to??? Mike and Melissa I am glad that you are both great stewards of the land your conservation efforts help tremendously. Who would have thought that atree that had been blown over could turn out to be this gorgeous??? Thank you for sharing your video. Hello Hunter. Ed
@Hello How are you doing dear
Hello you all! Love your chanel. Hard work never hurt anyone!
Every fall for the last 4 years 20+ men ranging from 18 to 78 years young turn out to cut, split and delivery. 14-16 cord of fire wood for a family that gears with wood. The father is handicap and can no longer cut wood. So we all join in and lens a hand, saw, truck. It's for a good Sat of fun and hard work. This last Oct we had 20+ men, 6 saws, 3 splitters, 8 trucks, 1 dump trailer.
No one got hurt and nothing broke! Good day!
Amazed at the beauty of the wood, each tree has its own ID just like our fingerprints, I have no problem with what you are doing especially the entertainment we all gain whilst you follow your dream with Melissa whilst doing something constructive....Hey...have a Day!!!!!
@Hello John how are you doing
Dear Morgans' Rescue Team: You are doing Great Work, and saving the fallen trees helps: The land, all them that would buy the wood and make high value items from same, yourselves, by creating a well of 'positive energy' that you actually share, and this helps others, who may be trapped in higher density locations realize 'just how this all works.' (Do note that the Pool will also create similar net positive benefits...The storage of water, alone, will establish a very real Benefit....carry on!!!! yaay!!!
That Cherry truly is beautiful. I watched a guy mill a Butternut and that was also just so nice. From the time I took shop in 7th grade, I've loved the smell and looks of wood.
Very, very, nice save Mike!.... Good message Mel.☺
Thank you for your thoughts on negative people. Pursue your passion. If I would have listened to the negativity of “you’re not going to make it, you’ll regret it,” yada yada, when I wanted to join the Air Force years ago I would not have seen the 49 countries I traveled to, lived in Italy for five years and Portugal for 16 months, retired after 30 years, and here I am content nine years after retirement. People can kill your joy, we just need to celebrate and be happy for each other. Thanks for what you do. Enjoy your videos.
As some people do not realize that the removal of fallen, sick and damaged trees is a very good way to insure the health of the rest of the forest. Allowing the sunlight to reach the canopy floor insures that there will be a forests for further generations to enjoy. If done right and with care there will be trees for many generations to enjoy and responsible harvest. The forest is like all other living things on this planet it requires Love and Care to continue. Mike and Mellissa are very good examples of when two responsible people care about the world and people around them. Love you guys keep up the great work! keep the videos coming.
Melissa, I agree that if you love doing something, just do it. If you are doing it for your self enjoyment, you don't have to be good at it. Just keep doing it, you'll get better at it, and have a good time on the way.
This channel is great entertainment. Melissa is the sunshine. Everybody loves sunshine.
Gorgeous Cherry wood. Great rescue. Ignore the haters. you explained up front it was a fallen tree. I love the positive commentary on doing what you love and are good at. I am a musician and a beekeeper. retired and enjoy gardening, hunting, fishing. the list goes on.
Positive Channel we enjoy . Thanks
Loved your message Melissa! Mike, thanks for rescuing that beautiful Cherrywood. It looks to me like heirloom furniture quality and will certainly be enjoyed by generations to come. Who knows, maybe the carpenter lives in the Mojave desert!
Love your passion for purpose Melissa. I'm 75 and have played music all my life because that's what I was put here to do. If people could only find their passion and get good at it, they will never work a day in their lives. You will learn to make a living at it if you work hard and get good at it, though I use the word work lightly. For those that place importance in what the Bible says, one good verse is proverbs 20:5 - The purpose in a man's heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out. Love your vids!
Just happened upon your channel and boy am I glad I did! This is some of the most beautiful cherry wood I’ve ever seen! I’ll forever LOVE working with cherry lumber. Such a beautiful, rich and distinct look to it. Fantastic video.
I had a local woodworker make kitchen cabinets made from cherry with just a satin lacquer finish- no stain. They turned a beautiful cinnamon in just a year and continued to change for a few years after that. Love the look of natural finished cherry.
That Cherry was very beautiful wood. Good to see it didnt go to waste. 🇺🇸
Hey Mike, I can see ribs cooking with ah little cherry/hickory, or, cherry/oak, um-um-good. I used to have ah large
cherry secretary, beautiful grain, burned up in house fire. I love cherry wood period. Great to look at, great to cook with.
Melissa, you're right, You do You, and make the world ah better place !! 👍
Nice rescue!! That's some good looking wood.
Beautiful piece of cherry , and well said Melissa, words of wisdom, we cannot all love doing the same things and thank god for this , I don’t think some peoples realize how much work and dedication is put in the channel,I don’t have the biggest piece of land but it keeps me busy all day long now am retired ,keep up the good work 🥰👏👏👏👍🇮🇪🇫🇷🐸
The wood looks awesome nice tractor and saw mill. Melissa you are a spokesman motivator that's awesome what you said about getting up and just doing what you like doing not the normal good job and I bet the lasagna was awesome God bless you and your family
You both are rays of sunshine of inspiration on you tube keep on doing what your doing God bless
Nice rescue Mike. Melissa your message to us is spot on as God has created us all different for this reason so do what you Love and do it well. May God Bless you on the best day of the week
What an awesome couple be nice to have a wife or partner like you got Mike God bless you folks
I usually am eating my breakfast while watching. Enjoy so much watching lumber coming off the mill. As I used to drive across I-76 in southern PA, I wondered what kind of trees were growing on all those hills. Is it a mix of oak, cherry, and maple as on your property? Couldn't tell while speeding down the interstate. Good message, Melissa, about finding your passion and pursuing it. Sometimes, it means working the 9-5 job, and then, giving the rest of the day to your passion, as Mike does. TH-cam gives people a chance to enjoy the activities of others from a warm and cozy environment. Thanks for being willing to endure the cold for us.
Great advice the King family loves you guys. Keep up the good work.
Mike, not sure if you've talked with any woodworkers about what kind of wood we use, but if you see downed trees that are just started to rot, those provide beautiful spalted wood. Google spalted cherry. If you mill and sell that wood, you'll get top dollar for it. Same thing for turning blanks. Please don't burn that stuff!! Sell it for blanks!
That is Spectacular Looking Lumber!!👍👊
I have never seen so much beautiful wood since I subscribed. God has blessed your property, and I am always impressed with Melissa's fashion. Thank you guys for sharing.
i am glad you are using the down log out . that is good for the forest . and you are not dropping the live trees .doing it that way you will never run out of trees. i like that idea .
Msllisa you’re so rite stick what you like and don’t listen to other people telling you can’t do it and you will succeed. Love your channel watch it every day.
Mike - Just spotted Absolute Zero's question about what you're going to do when the trees are all gone. You covered that a few weeks ago. Melissa you covered that beautifully in your statements about we can't all do the same thing. I had someone tell me that a few years ago, and then added, "If we all did the same thing, I couldn't stand the competition." Thanks for the great philosophy about life the two of you have, and thanks for sharing it with all of us. The color of those cherry boards are beautiful. Don't know if you can, but it would be super if you could follow that wood from the forest, to its ultimate use. What a great story that would make. Thanks for all you both do. Hi to the girls, and Hunter.
Who is this absolute zero uninformed person? You only take dead falls, and normally only dead Standing wood for what you use. I live in south central Pa. We hunt an area the state had contracted for clear cutting 5 years ago. Today the number of young trees growing in that area make it impossible to walk through. I hunt an area cleared 15 years ago and there are so many volunteer cherry trees growing in that area still make it tough to walk through. But the wildlife loves it. You go ahead Mike and Melissa you two are very good stewards of the land you own and manage. Keep up the great work. Beautiful log great piece for a mantle over the fireplace.
Mike is the blue looking water on the wood mizer for cooling the blade when you are cutting. Also I think that it is great that your wife helps you like she does. Keep up the great work. Jack McCracken
Fantastic, keep up the good work.
I see some negative comments. I bet they have never seen a tree in life.
I’m in Vermont and I go hiking almost every weekend I tell you it’s beautiful and lots of trees just sitting there on the ground.
I’m glad this gentleman made this video so others could do the same.
Thanx
Great video again!!! We got to see Mike, Melissa, those beautiful dogs, an amazing adventure with the Morgans, a truly fantastic cherry log magically transformed into absolutely stunning lumber and a bunch of thankful viewer comments (sane one). I won’t be the same the rest of the day thanks to our dear Morgan family in PA! My prayers go to heaven the Morgans remain just who the are and are able to continue to show us a couple thousand (at least) more videos like this one!
Melissa, your (too few) words on being passionate about the things we love to do was so well said. You said it with all your heart! Thank you. You are a gem of the rarest kind. Y’all Have a Day form Central Texas.
@Hello Dave how are you doing
Well y’all won me over! PIPER! What a wonderful breed of dog. My wife and I absolutely love our golden. She’s our first golden, had we know how gentle, loving and calm they are we’d have had them long ago. Our girl is like a daughter to us, we love this dog to death. Your dog is darker than ours, wonder why.
And...we love that you share this with us, Melissa. :)
Thaks for the advice! You guys R awesome, !
The perfect antidote to constant negativism: Morgan morning cheer. Everybody's starved for positive outlook. Why "Buckin'" is such a force for good. Great work, guys. Keep spreadin' the love.
Greetings from No. VT - Gorgeous cherry, it will make some cabinet maker very happy! I wish I lived a little closer!!!!!
Mike Nix! Not ta MENTION some 'fine furniture' owners!
Rick Bonner, Pennsyltucky
Mike, I'm kind of a loner. Not very social and spend most of my time in the woods and mountains away from people. Your channel has improved me as a person by makeing me realize that there is a lot of good people in the world. THANK YOU very much.
Love this, thanks. This channel has helped me as well. I used to go to the woods to get away from people. I started taking a camera with me and quickly realized there are lots of great people in the world.
Mike! Oscar the (formerly more grouchy) Spam eater!
Me too! There ARE great Folk in this Whorl' o' ours...; they're like "common sense" though, more rare than we'd a guessed.
If ya ever git a chance't to try some roasted venison offa Morgan's Mountain - or ANY Mountain..., or holler! - you'll NEVER go back ta that canned stuff!

Beautiful wood👍
Beautiful wife..... beautiful cherry lumber. You are sooooo lucky, Mike.
@Hello George how are you doing
The reason your videos are so popular, is because we're all jealous because we can't do the same stuff, and as long as your practising good forestry management, you'll never run out of trees....enjoy what you've got...God has blessed you with it😀
@Hello Craig how are you doing
Hi from South Dakota. Enjoy watching the videos and wish we had trees like you do. Keep up doing what you enjoy doing and the best of luck
Awesome looking wood thank you for reclaiming it. love n prayers
Love what the two of you've shared. Used to live in Pa. years ago but now in Utah and would love to have a conversation about your set up. What you've enjoyed, what you'd do over and the cost involved. If you have the time it would be wonderful to talk to the both of you. Have a shop already but have always wanted a mill. Thanks for the good stuff.
Good morning Mike and Melissa, what a save from the burn/rotting forest floor. Converting to the winching abilities open up more wasted resources for sure. Even those 6’ cutoffs will/can provide some beautiful slabs for building lots of things. You both did a great job, like the song said years ago “ do what you do do well “ can’t go wrong with that thinking and doing !!👍👍 You folks are a prime example and we thank you for sharing with us. You were not handed the silver spoons but you are mining them and enjoying the steps to get them.
What an awesome table or pair of book cases for the sides.
That is some beautiful wood. Thanks for sharing.
From an old tree man that is some damn nice wood!! Keep rescuing like you're doing. I'm so glad you have the opportunity to do something like that instead of watching it rot away in the woods or seeing it burn. Keep it up!
Congratulations, that is a beautiful rig to handle your wood.
Nice saw too. 😉
You've been watching The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson quite a bit, haven't you?
Earl Hollar - Craig is quite good at the double entendre / misdirection but no, not lately.
Love ❤️ the RESCUE... VERY NICE...
Mike
Great log. I love PA cherry. Just a suggestion when you have beautiful lumber like that if you draw or paint a triangle on the butt ends the woodworker can pull the boards in order of the way it came off the tree. Makes bookmatching the grain so much easier and nicer for their projects.
Great suggestion as these are prime woodworker candidates!
Awesome video. Good save. An great speech from Melissa
Great cherry wood... If I lived closer I would come down and offer to buy a couple of them from you - they would make a magnificent desk top. We don't have those species of trees here in central Alberta - mostly fir, spruce, birch, tamarack. You are truly blessed - continue to enjoy...
Michael from Canada
Oh the humanity. Mike, think of the children, oh my gosh Mike, please think of the children... Ha, ha, ha... "wind fall profits", been around for 100yrs plus...
Lovin your videos, and the new opening guest greetings from all over the country.
Thank you.
Good morning M&M !! Thanks for sharing todays video, I hope everyone has a great day !!!
So true , never knew what I wanted to do , ever . always loved music . Now I emcee music festivals , and do 2 radio shows at a community station !!! You could say I fell into it , could not be happier. Awesome tunes as always , and Hello to Hunter !!!
SOUTHERN INDIANA HERE: I like it when Piper, Ruger, and you Melissa the “Supreme Allied Commander” of the Morgan family comes in to help/supervise. Piper and Ruger give you moral support.
Just look, all the nice new expensive equipment, and what does he do... leaves the square on the gravel to get stepped on or driven over!
Got to love it! I’m sure it even stays out in the weather as well!
Best part of waking up is watching The Morgan’s with coffee ☕️ in my cup. Easy as a Sunday morning.
you said a mouth full
Greetings from No. VT - many a morning the Morgan video is posted right about when I am in the house having a second (or third) morning coffee and it is the high point of many days!
Beautiful lumber 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Done a few small projects with cherry but once built a display cabinet years ago while in High School. Used hand sanding with a fine grit metal surface paper and boy did the grains pop ! It was redone about 7 years ago but I built in in the late 1970's for my aunt. Looking forward to retire and just make furniture until my time for a rocking chair comes ...
Mike, idea of what to do with all your top/side cuts with the bark still attached; attach the pieces to the sides of you drying workshop and/or your drying sheds. Would make great looking rustic walls. Ken Melvin Schererville IN episode #677 thx
Nice intro John...from SUNNY Alaska😳
Beautiful Cherry harvested by a happy couple doing what they enjoy!
Mike, you are the Steven Spielberg of TH-cam, I sure enjoy your videos.
Passion has been my passion for quite a while now. That is, recognizing and valuing other peoples passion for the good of all of us. That is why we all watch. That is why we all connect with you. Never stop.
We love watching what you do and learning from it. Beautiful cherry wood. Have a productive day.
Thank you for including us in your passions !
Beautiful wood! Great that you were able to rescue it with the winch. Keep doing what you love, and thank you for doing it!!
Love the cherry wood
The people are pretty great too
@Hello Another how are you doing
With negative comments about your selection of trees it me me wonder what type of house they live in. You gave a very nice, friendly matter of fact answer. If you ever need floor finishing done,I’d be glad to help you guys out.
If winter ever comes to PA....I had another thought for the sawdust. If your trails get a little slick, put some sawdust on them. Excellent traction on snow and ice. A free tip from MN. 👍
I can tell you, woodworkers are drooling over those slabs. Thank you for rescuing it!
I'm wipin' me chin off, Richard Eastin!
Rick Bonner, Pennsyltucky
You two have a great day and god bless you and your family also ok
Thank you for your encouraging words about doing what you're good at. I am a professional story reader and I have been traveling all over the country doing read-aloud presentations in school. I want to start my own channel and read some great chapter books for 4th,5th and 6thgraders. I would probably do a chapter a day. I may start as early as March! Thanks.
Love it!
Beautiful, That would make a table or counter top. I hate to see timber go to waste. I love every day that I get to watch your videos. I love see you all in the mornings while I drink a cup of coffee. God bless and keep doing what you do.
That is a gorgeous bunch of cherry boards. You did a terrific job slabbing them up!
Good video today interesting cherry wood , loved your pep-talk, also it can’t hurt to tell the ones we love to drive safe and I love you.I wish more people would not be afraid to say , I love you! ❤️
Love ur videos
Christopher A
Master Chimney Sweep
@Hello Christopher how are you doing
That’s beautiful lumber! This old woodworker’s imagination can run wild on what you could do with this.
@Hello David how are you doing
Thank you for another wonderful video. tom.
That would make a nice looking dining room table. Nice save.
Looks awesome. Keep up the great work Morgans.
Will make some nice furniture with some of the other boards !!! Thanks as always take care !!!
Mike
That is some of the prettiest cherry wood I have ever seen. I hope it finds a home with someone worthy enough to do it justice and we get to see the end result. That would be a treat. What are your plans with the saw dust and slab boards?
Classic Melissa ending! 🤣
Hey Hunter! ✋🏻👴🏻
Crikey if you locals are cold, then it is cold! I'm glad i live in Queensland! Nice cut of timber. Love the saw.
that person that says what are you going to do when the trees are gone?does not realize thinning out the woods makes a healthier forest! you have to take a comment and figure out and qualify the knowledge of that person. take some leave some. the wood mizer mill changed things for me watching your videos.what a great tool for managing your resources. I enjoy the videos keep up the good work!!!
Great message Melissa! Some beautiful cherry there!
Keep it up Mike. Trees regenerate as long as your are not logging! Love your videos let those trying to bring you down watch something else!
I can contest to the beauty of Pa cherry. We harvested cherry on our land in North central Pa, had it sawed at mill. We planned, tongue and grooved and installed ourselves as flooring in our cabin. Although not the hardest wood, the color and grain is outstanding.
