Question from a non-player: did combat aircraft really tend to lose wings at the rate planes doe on these videos? It seems the vast majority of shoot-downs involve a wing ripping rather neatly off. Is this based on anything?
carmium , yes, very old battle damage models that haven’t really been updated much. A game I played twenty years ago had pretty much the same type of damage physics as this one.
kilo21swp I highly doubt a game in 1998 had damage physics as advanced as these. By the way, most combat crashes do involve wings breaking. That’s just fairly obvious as the wing and tail are by far the weakest structural areas on planes. However, the wings snapping are much too ‘clean’ in this game. There’s never any loose spars or debris falling out the wing as there would in real life
Stirling Studios, look it was some game dealing with flying during the Battle of the Bulge. The graphics for this game are way better of course. It’s just the crash sequences look almost exactly the same.

Is easier to damage a wing because that have more area where you can shoot. Pilot and engine are slightly more difficult to damage.
carmium its not necessary the bullets but just that they're moving so fast it breaks it's self apart
