This is the best cooking comedy show on youtube! This onion burger was 1 of the first 10 things I made on the 17" Blackstone e-series. Did 'em again after 2 weeks for guests & did 'em again in a month for another round of guests. Everyone loved 'em! We have a deep fryer too & made waffle fries + served garden fresh corn on the cob!
One more thing that may interest you, the butcher at my local “Signature” Kroger (AKA a big Kroger with a full service butcher shop) told me that the ground beef in the black styrofoam trays is made in-house from steak trimmings. He also told me that they have the most leftover steak trimmings when rib eyes and NY strips are on special. Rib roasts are on special now for the wingnuts who eat beef on Thanksgiving and I’m certain that they will on special again right before Christmas.
Interesting I don't know if mine has black styrofoam but I am going to go look for it. The butcher I talked to wasn't the friendliest but that's ok. I 'm still going to go back and try to get some more good info out of him.
I noticed the garage cook too. If it's raining, I'll roll the old Blackstone into my golf cart garage and cook in there. What the hell, I have insurance!
Okay, Johnny, you just must stop posting these delicious grillings on here in the morning. All it does is make my mouth water while I look outside at the pouring Washington weather.🤗🤣❤️
Thanks Gary! I'm glad you think so. Since going full time on TH-cam I think I got excited about all the different ways I could make a video and went away from what I was initially doing. I'm going to try to go back to just straightforward recipes with a voiceover and some dry humor. We'll see how it goes.
This must be fate. 🤷🏻♂️ There’s a new video on the Eater channel (uploaded on November 21) on George Motz and his newish hamburger restaurant in NYC where he basically gives out all of his secrets. He uses 75/25 chuck from Schweid & Sons. The good news is that the average Joe can acquire meat from S&S. I’m almost certain that I’ve seen it at Kroger now that I’ve looked at the retail packaging on the S&S website. If it’s not there, it’s definitely acquirable by accessing Al Gore’s greatest invention. I’m sure that you can guess which buns he uses. 😉 It’s a really cool video and he gives out an interesting onion cooking tip near the end of the video., so watch until the end.
Enjoyed the vid. White Castle is a whole different burger than a smashburger. And it is delicious. The smashburger craze on social media is out of control. The YT vids say use 3 oz patties. Why not 4 oz patties? After it's done cooking, it looks likes a crispy patty. To me, Steak n Shake and Culvers (on occasion) make the best smashburgers.
Ya I love both of those places. I like the 3oz patty bc I think the thinner patty cooks in its juices more gets a better sear. I have absolutely no evidence to back that up other than personal preference lol.
Mandolins are terrifying. Don't get me wrong, I use mine, but I used to picture my fingertips getting sliced off the entire time. Now? Chain gloves. Nice burgers!

The potato peeler looks like the thinnest onions, great idea.
Ya it really worked out great.
Thanks for the info Johnny 👍
I have to save these videos for Spring. Blackstone is all bundled up for winter.
Ya that's why I'm in the garage for this video. I don't recommend it bc it's not the safest but I'm trying to keep on learning all through winter.

Fantastic job and well explained Johnny , keep on griddling indeed!🍻🍻
Thanks, you too my friend.

Yes they are. A chain glove is a good call.
