Schleck lost 39 seconds in this stage
39 seconds was his final deficit against Contador

Changing gears is part of racing... Schleck messed up and it possibly cost him the Tour that year.
at @0:30 you can see that contador is already starting to try catch up to andy, so he didnt just attack because of the chain, he was already going to
Obviously, Schleck goes, Contador has to react. And in fact, Schleck had a gap which was just growing when he attacked on Contador: there were about 3 bike lenghts to Vino and then another 3~4 from Vino to Contador. Given that Schleck's style of acceleration is the kind of going faster and faster as his attack progress, we can only guess the gap would grow. Now, Schleck's chain goes, Vino stops. Contador came from behind and saw it all. So first, he was countering Schleck, later, attacking him.
Ahhh you also have to remember stage 3, when Contador crashed and Andy schelck put fabian cancellara on the front to push the pace

and besides..Contador,Menchov and Sanchez broke the unwritten codex of cycling that you should not attack the yellow jersey if it's having problems..
furthermore the main topic was this stage only

Schlecks form was so incredible this year that they actually thought he was a good descender. andy and frank are my two favorite riders but everyone knows they can't descend or time trial

Before this stage I was not fond of Contador.
After the stage: I hated him with a passion. He had no honour in this stage and I was thrilled to find out that Schleck, who deserved the tour was given it thanks to Contador's doping.

@IamAeroDynamic lmao what a joke on the stage with the cobblestones contador himself got stuck behind crashes and in the last few k's had trouble with a broken spoke, and cancellara and andy set the pace at the front, he lost much more than 39 seconds there to begin with.
Furthermore, what was he supposed to do, wait for Andy and let Menchov and Sanchez go? Besides, Andy didn't even have a mechanical, he just messed up his gear shifting.

contador had not the strongest legs - andy had.
andy schleck had technical problems - his legs were not worser than contadors.
it was just unfair by contador - a probable doper,
armstrong waited for ulrich after he fell and jan ulrich did the same for his greatest rival.

Wiggo? poor wiggo will be shewed up and spat out in a week. wihtout the lead of team sky he has no chance against the likes of contador, schleck, rodriguez, valverde, nibali etc.. he may put massive time on them in the time trial but he will also be droped hard be even his teammate froome when it comes to a squeeze lolz

@BoxCarBoy12 I agree with you. I remember the days rivals played fair. When Lance got caught by that ladies purse, Jan waited for him to catch up and then lost the stage because of it. Alberto has no sportsmanship or honor. The sport will be better without him, although I did like the Schleck vs Contador rivalry.
