  • This was an amazing song for a debut. The vocals mixed with the subtle rap, it elevated everything especially with the jazz beat. Thank you for the support for watching my content. Drop a LIKE👍 and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE❤️ if you enjoyed my content!😀

Mr Ambiguous... Love the earlier Jazz/R&B songs.
They did mess with them, it was real... Everyone in the M/V are people RBW's CEO knew... He called in favours to have them in the M/V
The Prank played on them... their Faces are priceless. What makes it so funny is that Baek Jiyoung IS/WAS a WELL know Singer and Actress in South Korea, and the members didn't reconize her. Solar was taking it the hardest, being the leader.
In fact “Mr. Ambiguous” features, many musicians, and some of K-Pop’s hottest stars... including Wheesung, K.Will, Rhymer, Bumkey, Jung Joon Young, and CNBLUE’s Lee Jong Hyun.

not sure where i heard this but the CEO mentioned that the prank was to break Mamamoo's anxiety and nervousness towards their debut.

I may be wrong, but I believe the person indicated as CEO in the prank is a famous singer diva, someone that would have similar fame and standing as like Barbara Streisand or Dolly Parton - not sure the comparison works, but basically someone Mamamoo would have looked up to and wanted to impress particularly in their debut. If so, it makes the prank that much more harsh! So amazing that the producers would have done that and included in a debut MV, but at the same time you can’t help feel sorry for how crushed they must have felt in that moment!

Yeah that was a very real prank and crying and who does that in a debut. All of the other people were in fact well known people, actors, musicians, singers, producers all known to the RBW CEO. It was common to have collabs with these people, you will see some like bumkey and k.will in their pre-debut videos dont be happy and peppermint chocolate. This was a way to get exposure as fans of the well known people might be interested in a new group. There is another video of the moosical concert with the ballad Love you too, which Solar wrote to the fans and the CEO switch out a video on them and caused a lot of crying. Honestly, I dont know many people who can watch that video and not shed a tear also because of what happens. They are great actors and comedians, though this prank was real. Solar is currently the lead actress in the Musical Mata Hari, they have all done TV shows, hosted shows and some concerts have hilarious comedy, look up the 4 seasons concerts where they do the 1 CM taller than you song, preceded by 10 minute animated comedy with them doing a voice over to live action as part of the same skit ending with the song. But one thing about them is conveying emotion, more than many others they cause you to feel the emotions they want, happy, sad, courageous, that song about mothers, hello mama.... and it is any emotion. a couple of years ago Solar did two OSTs Exit (escape of the seven) in that MV she makes you feel fear, despair, rage, hate. It is actually incredible on how they can cause emotion in others like that. There is a reason they won so many contests, they really are considered the top of the best of the best live vocalists, other companies consider them a gold standard and torment their trainees with having to cover these songs. Even in RBW, mamamoos sister group Purple Kiss had to do that, there is even a video of them doing Egotistic with execs judging and stern faced Solar also judging them. Mamamoo is more of a once in a generation(not kpop generation) group who is just that good, another from korea is a vocal group Big Mama(not kpop) they were around a decade before mamamoo though they did a killing voice a couple of years ago after more than a decade disbanded and in their late 40s.

    1. They are really good at acting... or at least i think so. By acting i mean they are able to convey the feelings of the song in their attitude, body language and faces while singing. Best example is the one you have already seen... When they got into 'i miss you' on the killing voice medley, their postures and faces were completely different to how bright and open they were for HIP 4 seconds after i miss you ended.
    2. The prank was real. Very cruel prank. Very cruel to include it in the MV... I suspect the girls were in agreement with having it in the MV. They have always been involved with the creative process of their songs.
    3. The people in the MV were famous people in Korea. It was done to help elevate the introduction of Mamamoo
    4. What are you planning to do next for Mamamoo.. plenty of MV's, plenty of solos to choose from.

@@kudgeond755 yes, a 'little' boo boo :) I should add for the column of evidence that they cannot act, the fact that they cannot lip sync :)

Most Groups would agree that Mamamoo Are the Vocal Queens.
The concept Queens are RedVelvet... and they would be ranked #2 in vocals.

Yeah, the prank was real. I've always thought it was cruel and unusual punishment for the reasons you mentioned. It's also the first of a zillion Only Mamamoo moments - who does something like that in their debut MV?
The people playing the director, producer, etc were celebs making cameos as a favor to RBW's co-CEO Kim Dohoon, who is a well known songwriter. MMM was the first group to debut under RBW, who had a small staff and very little money to promote their new girl group so this was the best RBW could do to bring attention to MMM. The 'making of' video concept was a perfect setup for the prank. Baek Ji Young is a famous singer and clearly the girls were told she had generously offered to give them tips and feedback prior to their debut.
Mr Ambiguous was written for Quincy Jones by Kim Dohoon under the title Mamamoo and the girls auditioned it for Q when he was in Seoul for a concert. At that time they were trainees and didn't have a name for their group yet. Q decided not to use the song so it was partially re-written, re-titled Mr Ememoho (sounds like Mamamoo), given to the girls for their debut single, and the original song title became the group's name.
Mamamoo is generally considered to be the vocal gold standard among girl groups but of course you can make your own list of best singers. Personally I've never liked singer rankings, esp ones that focus on vocal technique. I've heard plenty of singers with incredible technique and range who don't move me. I prefer singers who connect with me emotionally and speak to my heart and soul like Mamamoo. Imo that's the point of it all but it's not something you can measure. Having great chops and technique is nice, but, as Duke Ellington would say, it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing.
