I got this thing and painted it matte tan. Feels great. Had a bicycle helmet with MIPS and it worked good. I wanted a Fox because I thought it looked cooler but Bell dit my head better. The looks of Bell really grew on me. The slim and long look makes for a nice sharp appearance. Everyone knows... looking cool is half the battle.
I have the MX-9 matte black, I use it for the street with sunglasses or clear glasses, I like the badass Darth Vader look and I don't like full face with a shield, makes me feel like I'm in a space helmet. I did trim 1.7" off the visor, looks cool.
Rocky mountain ATV mc is by far the best place from the products to the service to the whole process and even the website is the easiest to navigate..If I could I would be a full sponcor rider and endorse it to my grave because I ONLY shop with these guys ..I reccomend to anyone in the sport of moto to as well ..not to mention the return policies and the shipping is fast always fast ..its rare in this sport but damn I'm a huge fan of these guys
Juggling between the Bell MX-9, Fox V2, and Fly F2 carbon. Each have some strong points. What would you consider the safer helmet? Kinda leaning towards the V2 with the FI pods and multi density liner..
I personally don’t use BELL, but a lot of people rave about BELL. It’s been around for probably the most time and has the best features out of your choice over there. Otherwise you could also get and aviator 2.2 twist or which ever you want, super light and very good helmet. In my honest opinion I say get the BELL
Could one use a MX helmet like this one with goggles for everyday riding? Im your typical dual sporter, who is tired of the shield fogging up. Would this be unbearable for long stretches of highway? Thanks!
There a plenty of adventure riders that use a MX helmet and goggles on their rides. The wind noise is a lot louder and it certainly won't be ideal when it's cooler. But yes, you could run that set up. Have you tired any type of anti-fog coating on your shield?
I have a large o’neal 5 series helmet in a size Large, but whenever I pick up speed the wind just blows the helmet up. do you think a medium would be good in this helmet for me?
I've got the white "Torch" model on the viewer's right. Those goggles go well with the helmet. Can I ask what model/colour scheme that is from Scott? Merci!
Hunter, I believe the medium and large share the same shell size, and you can interchange those two liners but i'm not 100% sure about using a medium in a small. Let me ask the guys at bell and I can get back to you.-Chase
So we did some checking and unfortunately the XS/S share a shell and the M/L share a shell so you would not be able to change the liner and have it fit like a medium. Sorry but hopefully that helps!
I have it for road use. No it doesn't keep you dry for shit. Back of your head is dry of course but the rain drops hit the tops of my cheeks like needles on the freeway. I have to pull over because it hurts not because it's wet. If you add a pair of goggles with a little nose guard area, it would be MUCH better. It's my hot weather bucket.
i have this helmet and they are amazing and are very protective, but.... dont wear 100% goggles because they dont fit well with them. other then that, its the best bang for your buck
I have this helmet too, for street riding. Drop the visor and add some amber or blue goggles, it's pretty nice. Comfortable but loud as hell on the freeway.
Oh boy, a lot lol. Carbon flex doesn’t have MIPS. The “flex” is built into the helmet shell, which is mainly carbon fiber, and the liner. The MX9 is a traditional / old school poly shell with MIPS. The carbon flex is bell’s top of the line helmet with the latest technologies. Oh and there’s a $500 price difference. The real main difference is the shell material (poly vs carbon) and studies on impact absorption.
its this helmet SNELL cert? when i select the snell cert option on you site this helmet shows up but in the description doesn't say its SNELL, and i do need a helmet SNELL cert.. thank you
Which goggles fit the BELL MX-9 MIPS helmet size S ????? As mentioned, this helmet model comes in 3 shell sizes and since my helmet is size S, this is the smallest shell size. This means that my helmet will be the one with the smallest shell sizes, but maybe then 100% Armega goggles will still fit in it ???
I'm not 100% sure if the Armega would fit inside a size small. The Armega is one of the larger goggles so it's tough to say. I know the Racecraft or the Accuri would fit in that helmet. You can take advantage of our fit guarantee if your goggles and helmet aren't compatible.
Are you asking if this helmet has speaker cutouts? If so, it does not. But you should still be able to mount a communication system on this helmet. Bell makes the MX-9 Adventure helmet that does have speaker cutouts.
Great review by RockyMountain as usual! That's the first place, where I'm looking for some information about MX gear! I'm wondering how you compare this model to Leatt 8.5. Big plus for me is design, colors and I think fits slightly better (Bell M size, Leat S size), but Leatt is much lighter and newer. What's your choice..?

You mentioned they make three shell sizes; I ordered a small and it’s a tad bit too tight. If I order a medium size top liner will it fit as a medium?

Most dirt helmets aren’t good for keeping you dry considering they have a gaping hole in the face area.

Zach Lozano is it the 100 goggles with the side wings or the cheap ones?
Agreed. Love the helmet but my 100% armegas don’t seat well in them. Roost has gotten into eyes before.
does the mouth guard plastic come out to replace with different colors?
That’s what small paint sprayers and brushes are for
Did they get rid of the magnetic liner system?
Bell's Magnefusion Emergency Removal System (MERS) comes only in their Bell Moto 9 and Bell Moto 9 Flex line of helmets. Thanks
Can you open/close the ventilation on the mouth?
No, there is no way to control the vents.
Does this come with a clear and tinted visor?
Its an mx helmet, but there is an adv version with a visor
name of the glasses pls
Chase, I’m looking at buying a new helmet and I’m trying to decide between the fox v2 or this one. What do you recommend?
If it were me, I'd probably choose the V2. More venting and I like the fit. - Chase
Thanks so much for the advice, I was leaning more towards it anyway.
Is the visor adjustable
The visor on the MX-9 is fully adjustable!
Awesome thank you
Does it come with a visor
yes ... matching ... www.bellhelmets.com/motorcycle/p/mx-9-mips-dirt-bike-helmet

I'm not sure what sliding piece you're referring to. If you give me a time stamp of when you see that piece, I can get you an answer.
