What do you think of the 405M? Is this one you'll be picking up? Update: to set daijisho as your default app go to setting/apps/default apps and change daijisho to the home screen.
Nope, for myself I want a Linux OS option before I even consider a device. give me a RG350P design that can play God of War for PS2 (not the PSP version) at 1x-1.5x resolution at a full 60fps, no tinkering with settings required outside of downloading an updated emulator for it, for no more than $150 and I'll strongly consider it. Also, It's gotta have 2 micro SD slots, HDMI out, stacked shoulder buttons where the R2 & L2 are analogue. Don't get me wrong this device does get some things right, that screen that goes from the top to the bottom with minimal bezel is sweet (unlike the RK2023) also I've been crying to have the start/select and function buttons positioned BELOW the face buttons, analogue sticks and directional pad, this moves the users hands higher on the device allowing your fingers and palm to get more contact with the device thus a more comfortable experience.
Can you set the RG405's default Home Launcher to be Daijisho so the home button sends you back to Daijisho instead of the default home screen? It should be in the settings under Default Apps or Home Screen settings. I don't have the RG405M so I can't confirm but on my android device that I've modified to be a retro handheld using Daijisho as the frontend it works perfectly. That said, good review! I'm hesitating between this device and the Retroid Pocket 3+ :)!
I have an RG503 and the one thing I wish Anbernic would change to is stacked shoulder buttons. I am looking at the Retroid Flip now as an upgrade. Good video, liked and subbed.
@@retrohandhelds I was also very surprised about DBZBT3, is it on the PS2 emulator? The framerate looks good, does it remain stable as you play? Btw thanks a lot for the review, it was very in-depth and really enjoyable to watch :-)
Nice comparisons! That said, there is not much size difference for 4:3 content compared to the RP3+, but a huge difference for PSP, Wii and WiiWare. There are a lot of games that also play great on the T618. DS also has more space. Factor in the better resolution and shoulder button design, sticking with the RP3+.
rp3+ is a 4/10 for me, I'm ordering the rg405m. rp3+ screen ratio is awful for gamecube/ps2 which is 4:3 640x480 native, the dpad is jacked up and differs from the buttons (tech doesn't match feels weird mush buttons and clicky dpad...the fuck?), plus the rp3+ feels like cheap plastic compared to this.
@@retrohandhelds hey one more question, when you have it set up as you do with the second screen in the bottom corner, how is the resolution? Is it still legible?
it looks like a sony xperia z3 phone with that screen background, witch I used in the early days of emulation on android before we had devices like these
Im 40 yrs old and not too tech savy but have just stumbled upon these handheld emulators. Ive purchased a miyoo mini plus and a anbernic rg353v but would like a horizontal handheld to play ps1/ps2 and N64 games.. what would be an easier (ready to go) handheld for these? Im looking at the rg405m or the retroid pocket 3 plus.. also is the stock os (linux/android) ok or should i try and figure out garlic os install? Cheers!!
The 405 and rp4+ both run android and it's a good experience overall, if you want mostly 4:3 stuff like N64, PS1 and a decent amount of PS2 then go for the 405m.
It's not idea but it's not terrible, what i would suggest is to remap the shoulder buttons and set the ones you're going to be using the most to L1R1. Overall it's a great handheld it just has some small flaws. -Aish
Thank you! It runs great it's just a system I'm not too familiar with, but I did show some Saturn games running in my 505 showcase video and they were all running great.
Hi...since I have a 256 GB SD card full of Roms called Roms with the various folders snes nes psp c64, BIOS etc etc ,does the system already recognize them or do I have to scan them? Thank you
I've already got mine arriving in the post, but watching you mess about with your grip to use the L and R buttons has got me worried. Is it really that bad??
It's not terrible but it's not ideal you end up using the last knuckle of your finger to press L2R2, it wasn't something that would stop me from recommending it it's just something i hope they fix in the next handheld. Really only a problem with PS2 since GameCube you can just use l1r1. -Aish
Kinda sucks on many levels i think the previous version the RG553m is still better with there screen size and software than. Better not in performance just like you said it's playable till N64 with that windmaker ofc and some other high end game's. Awesome review!! I like the console button layout and the fit like you said it's playable till a level

I'm not interested to use Daijisho front end I'll be sticking with Anbernic front end as my default front end for my emulators.
Did that, thnks. But now , how do i get back to the home screen if i want to do something in. Android like file browser.
Love your review, you don’t just talk about good thing about the handheld. But you bring out possible problems, so users can aware the issue.

i had shoulder button issue...i have to buy a new one but i know this time to get the one with the blue shoulder switches

No black bars for most systems and more comfortable to use, guess it's more of a personal opinion ?

ONE OF THE BEST DEVICES IN THE MARKET NOW TODAY 2024 THE GR405M HELL OF A MACHINE 👍👍👍👍👍👍
any help to connect this on TV, I'm having problems
It doesn't have video out so you would have to try screen casting, and I wouldn't recommend that for gaming.
Will this run auto modellista?
GameCube version no, PS2 version probably but i haven't tested that game in a while.
