- When I 1st started to learn songs for Orisha, this was the tape that I used. I do not know the name of the album that this tape was made from. I do not know the musicians, but I do know that the lead singer is Lazaro Ros. This tape made its rounds through out the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area back in the 80s and 90s. No matter whose house I heard this tape, it always had the same skips and flutters in the exact same place, so I'm sure they were copies of copies of copies. Even so, with the aid of Adobe Audition, I was able to achieve a decent sound quality. I was able to index some of the words for the songs that may be contained in Orin Orisa or in Cantos Lucumi. Some songs I could not find in either of those books. The index will placed in the comments below. Peace

I grew up to this cassette in the late 80s and early 90s . This is how o learned the cantos as a child 🎉😂❤

THANK YOU! You are so correct. I heard this tape back in the 90s and could not find the original recording anywhere. It was the first time I heard these praise songs, and the only time, but it made such an impression I looked high and low for the original. Although I knew that Sr. Lazaro Ros was the singer, I could not find this recording anywhere. I have been asking for years to find this recording. Finally. Thank you.

This is Lazaro Ross, most likely accompanied by the Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba, in Habana. He was one of the founding member of the group and toured with the company for many years.

@@melagente Back then it was mostly recordings. I don't recall the Conjunto Folklórico having an album. Perhaps a recorded performance en el Teatro Mella.

The copies and versions you found may have actually been the quality of the tape used to it's original live recordings...that's very cute and funny! The live oriates and iyas and babas must be thanking you heavily for the beautiful preservation you have done and shared. I do am 1 who understands the Lucumi and also spelled Lukumi are definitely descendants of the existence of Orisha and Olorun. I also thank you my very self. A dupe!

@@mamasirrodriguez6844Bendicion. I was initiated in Oakland to Sango in 1998. My wife to Yemonja in 1988. My Ojugbona was initiated in the 60's, but in NY. My godfather was initiated in the early 80's. So I would love to hear those stories.
@@melagente I will try the best to my ability to find more that i can actually translate. Descendants of the Orisha do exist! Thank you. I will look up these oral books on Orisha and thier descendants. I will read. I am so delighted that Iyalawos of Lukumi have won for ifa to continue for many years. I wish you to see also thier descendants if they contact you. I also will attempt to orate some stories and post it to you. There are endless in Odu if you are able to read about them.
