  • Our French cleat jigsaw holder has some nice features but is still an easy and extremely cheap build. Really, you can do this with only basic tools and scrap wood. We did and we love these things.
    We build two versions of the jigsaw mount: One for our Craftsman corded jigsaw and one for our Ryobi cordless jigsaw. Straight cuts and no nonsense give you a solid French cleat saw holder that will keep your jigsaws immediately available while saving wall storage space.

    I like these simple little builds. I also have a few old corded tools that come out of retirement when the cordless can't handle the job. People need to remember that these simple little builds make life easier when you're doing the complexed fancy projects. Thanks for the video.

      Thanks and we completely agree about cords. Corded tools are still extremely useful and often have more power than cordless. Plus you can use them for longer without worrying about battery life. Glad you enjoyed the video!

    I have enjoyed the french cleat builds. You have given me a new perspective on my tool holders. I also have my jigsaw flush against the wall, and like you, I have a small shop. So I have been looking at my designs and trying to shrink them. So this is my next change, thanks

      Wow! That means a lot. I'm a retired IT user interface guy and it just made more sense to me to store the tools in a grab-and-go layout that saves space. You will be very happy with your newfound space when you build your new holders. But I am sorry that you're going to have to buy more tools to fill the space your new holders will make!

      Glad you liked it and good luck on your build! Some of those old tools have a lot of life still in them, and when I use that old jigsaw I remember some of the projects I built with my dad 40+ years ago.

    Nice simple design and it just occurred to me that you could half the 2x4 lumber used by cutting them on the diagonal and using each half as a side. It would still be nice and strong as a triangle and it would clear up access to the cleat space below.

      Good choice. The corded sander works better for what we do. It has slightly more power and it never runs out of power.

    I haven’t gotten on the cordless bandwagon yet, I only have a Walmart drill and impact driver that are battery operated. I’ve been wondering how to deal with cords.

    • @AtomicDairy
      @AtomicDairy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cordless is great for a lot of tools but I'm not sold on cordless for everything. Our two circular saws are corded and we'll have the cord storage problem when we build their hangars. But we'll figure out a way to do it like we did for the jigsaw.

    • @keithjohnston5936
      @keithjohnston5936 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AtomicDairy I like the idea of storing the cords below the tool. I thought about just letting them hang but thought about spaghetti and decided against it.

    What do you do with all the cases that came with your tools?

    • @AtomicDairy
      @AtomicDairy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many of the newer tools didn't come with cases. But of the cases we do have some are lost to time, some are used for parts storage, and others given away to friends. We started to get rid of the old cases when I realized I had cases for some tools that were more than twenty years old that I had never used.
