Loved this Jason. I watch machinery Pete every weekend and am amazed at the prices these older tractors bring. Really enjoyed this and hearing how he got started too.
It is interesting to see what some classics are bringing. Especially if you own one. It was good to visit with Machinery Pete. He interviewed so hopefully you will see me on RFD one Saturday soon.
Was watching another chan which had an articulated tractor running the LSW tires, and was shocked to see that they cost $16K apiece. Similarly constructed 18.4 x 38 tires were $2K each on the same site. Is there enough performance advantage in the LSW tires to justify spending $64K for 4 of them vs only $16K for (8) 18.4x38 set up as duallies like on the tractor pictured at the beginning of this clip. Farming is a business and there needs to be a bottom-line cost-performance benefit in order to spend the additional cash for the more expensive gear. Or do farmers need big tractors like city boys need big pickups ;-) My dad ran mostly 6x4 concrete trucks in the fleet, but also had (4) Oshkosh 6x6 to make deliveries at sites where a 6x4 might get stuck (which is bad). But he couldn't justify any more than those 4 even though they were mega-cool in the 60's. I suspect that a number of viewers might be interested in a video where the different types of tires (and tracks) are discussed and where the cost/performance cutoff happens. At what power/weight level is the performance of 18x38 duallies maxed out and one needs to move to a bigger surface contact area to gain the benefit of more power. Ditto flotation for both soil compaction and wet conditions. TiA BTW, as city farmers (90 acres) we could only justify a Ford 2000 to pull hay wagons and run the bush hog.
It was cool to see both a 4560 and a 4760 2WD tractor in this video. That 4560 looked awfully nice.I'm really happy for you that your channel is growing so well. It sure deserves it. IIRC, I sub'd to you right around the 13K sub mark. It has been a real pleasure to watch al these videos over the years. Thank you for all you do andd in case I don't get a chance later to do so, I want to wish you and your family (and all your viewers) a very Merry CHRISTmas!
Merry Christmas. The 4560 is a nice one. I regret that I had not visited this farm before. It is 17 miles from my home. If I knew they had a 4560 I would have been there to film it. The 4760 at the end screen is the very last 60 series built. The next tractor off the line was an 8000 series. Thank you for being a top viewer of BTP. At 13,000 subscribers. I didn’t event know about subscribers. When I reached 25,000 a friend said hey did you know have that many subscribers. I was just enjoying sharing tractors. I still do. It’s allot of fun. It’s amazing BTP has grown to the second most subscribers for Ag TH-cam in North America and number one for life time views. I am glad so many others like tractors too.
Nice interview with machinery Pete😄👍 thanks for the video👍👍
