      Both of you are silly...activated charcoal is actually good for your intestinal tract. Charcoal is actually edible although not the briquettes directly.

    You can use a kitchen blowtorch to start up Thaan. Do it on a oven cookie sheet not in the grill. You should be a little careful quenching in a glass container. Even Pyrex can crack with a large change in temperature.

      Thanks for the tip, we'll try that next time! I definitely prefer my dutch oven for quenching.

    Good demo, thanks! BBQ looks very evenly cooked.
    Don't cool hot coals in a glass container, it could explode and send glass flying. Not smart.
    Zatar is Thyme, Sesame Seed, Sumac as the base, with optional oregano and marjoram if you want those notes. It is a lemony, tart, savory spice that can be mixed with oil and spread on bread of any kind and broiled, baked, pan fried for a snack or sprinkled on Hummus, or used as a meat rub. Delicious spice mix! No set proportions, just try it.

    Is your konro grill placed on a plastic table? How much heat comes out of the bottom of the grill. I know heat rises, but I am curious to know if the grill can be placed on a wooden or even a glass table without any damage to the table.

    • @KnifewearKnives
      @KnifewearKnives  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is plastic! The material the konro is made from insulates quite well. I would be wary of glass, but I've used it on wood with no issues!

    just purchased the small konro grill from y'all and you've peaked my interest with that charcoal water and rice. please advise or make a video on how to reuse that water :O do you strain it before you put your rice in it to cook? do you only wash your rice in it? so many questions, please let us know!

    • @owenwhitinger3188
      @owenwhitinger3188 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! Strain out the charcoal with cheese cloth or a fine mesh strainer after letting it cool down. Make sure you don't have any big ol' chunks of charcoal in there as that would be a troubling texture to bite into :S
      Once it's all strained of large bits, go ahead and use it as your steaming water for your rice. Use your favourite recipe as per usual. It's very easy!! It gives your rice a nice bit of bbq flavour. I find you get the best result is you're using Bincho-tan charcoal as it has the best flavour!

      So sorry for the delay! The yakitori is skinnier and longer, whereas the BBQ medium is a little more square. We have this handy comparison chart here
