- On this outdoor hiking adventure, I returned after 4 years to the beautiful Ruby Mountains in Northern Nevada! I ended up doing an 11.3-mile round-trip portion of the Ruby Crest Trail called the Castle Lake Loop. The hike is labeled as hard with 2,874 feet of elevation gain! This beautiful hike passes 5 different stunning lakes and has amazing scenery the entire trek! This is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Nevada! This hike is a must-do for any day hiker or backpacker!

Nevada, must be local for you? but 11 miles is a dam good hike for you and what a great hike it was too. I love an early start and brilliant hiking weather to start, real colourful too. The lakes looked real picturesque and the chipmunks sure seemed to be enjoying the view too. Was that snow on the trail....in the desert? The higher the trail went the better the views became and so many gorgeous lakes on the way. What a great days hiking that was, cheers Alan
Well, I wouldn't consider this a local hike, being that I live in Southern Nevada, and this is a 7 hour drive to Northern Nevada. They actually have 4 seasons here, unlike the desert I live in. Yeah, the lakes are all really beautiful, especially Liberty Lake! Yeah, there were patches of snow in one section of the trail. I will totally agree with you that it was a great day well spent here! Too bad I couldn't come down to the Ruby mountains with you this time. Definitely need to get to that area and explore! The lake is so still I almost didn't see it at first. Wow, how beautiful is that area. It really is quite stunning. Wow, up over 10,000 feet. That's pretty high elevation.

not the type of landscape when you think of Nevada, what a lust green area filled with all though lakes, the lakes are so calm and water colors so amazing, great shots of Liberty Lake and yes very beautiful area, thanks for another great hike brother
