The mod with Tails and Eggman completed my childhood mystery on how it would be to play with them outside the machines. I was most impressed at how the game responded for the stage completion without glitching how it didn't have a scene animation registered for those character models which were supposed to only be used in the Chao Garden.

I love how with the mech-walkers, you fall outside the boundaries and into unprogrammed limbo at the truck part, but then you press on to float down to the goal ring anyway XD
It's because if you outrun the truck as the mechs, you freeze in place instantly once you reach the dash-pad. It's the only way I could figure out to finish the level.
shadow sounds like he's sneezing whenever he's using homing attack. also, tikal's extra life picture thing is literally knuckles, like chaos' is rouge.
Seeing Knuckles do just fine in this stage is proof that we didn't need separate playstyles for him/Tails/other characters to work in 3D games. He has a different time getting through City Escape since he can't grind on rails, but he can glide and climb walls so it is easier in some instances. Tails would've worked too in an Adventure style game in Sonic-type stages(just like how it worked in Adventure 1)
It's not to make them work in 3D games. It's to add more variety to the characters and their abilities when entering the new 3D era. If they didn't have any other play styles, it would've been "run fast, get rings, get from point A to point B" for over ten more years. Knuckles can glide, climb and crush his enemies and surroundings to collect emerald pieces while Tails can fly and tail-whip to soar through each level. These play styles have become central in providing more variety and creativity to the series as a whole. Also, remember: Knuckles and Tails aside, Amy, Big and Gamma suck in this level. Nuff said.
I remember adoring this game as a kid. Could never stop playing it. I always loved Rouge's sections the most but this level of Sonic's will always hold a special place in my heart. So to see it modded like this made me laugh my ass off. Cheers for the good laughs. 😂

I love how with the mech-walkers, you fall outside the boundaries and into unprogrammed limbo at the truck part, but then you press on to float down to the goal ring anyway XD
It's because if you outrun the truck as the mechs, you freeze in place instantly once you reach the dash-pad. It's the only way I could figure out to finish the level.
Wish I could run as fast as Eggman.

Seeing Knuckles do just fine in this stage is proof that we didn't need separate playstyles for him/Tails/other characters to work in 3D games. He has a different time getting through City Escape since he can't grind on rails, but he can glide and climb walls so it is easier in some instances. Tails would've worked too in an Adventure style game in Sonic-type stages(just like how it worked in Adventure 1)
It's not to make them work in 3D games. It's to add more variety to the characters and their abilities when entering the new 3D era. If they didn't have any other play styles, it would've been "run fast, get rings, get from point A to point B" for over ten more years. Knuckles can glide, climb and crush his enemies and surroundings to collect emerald pieces while Tails can fly and tail-whip to soar through each level. These play styles have become central in providing more variety and creativity to the series as a whole. Also, remember: Knuckles and Tails aside, Amy, Big and Gamma suck in this level. Nuff said.

I remember adoring this game as a kid. Could never stop playing it. I always loved Rouge's sections the most but this level of Sonic's will always hold a special place in my heart. So to see it modded like this made me laugh my ass off.
