Jay started to venture out of music heading into his 40s. Back then, artist also didn't have the knowledge they do now. Big at 24 and only 4 yrs in the game was starting to be exposed to his own potential. Before his death, he was just seeing himself as a fashion icon.

From my perspective what I thought was Mack thought he should have been the premier headline Bad Boy artist. I think he resented the fact that Big came on the scene and was given more attention. So Mack didn't like that and Big kinda noticed and and really care for Mack as a result.
