Because Alice is an overpowered fanfiction OC that Paul WS Anderson put into the movies to give the spotlight to his wife, Milla, instead of on the actual characters from the games. It was a vehicle to give Milla a leading role and make money.

Alice has no personality. 4) The plot of the games are not that complicated. There is a an evil company making zombie viruses and our heroes have to fight for their survival. It is very hard to f**k that up. And yet, even after the Anderson movies they tried again to make a Resident Evil movie and still managed to f**k it up again. 5) Have you seen the CG movies? I assure you they are much more successful than the live action movies and do you know why? Because they respect the franchise that they are a part of. The characters that fans love are in tact. They add to the canon of the universe. Because they were made by people who gave a damn. People who actually like Resident Evil. You don't get that with the live action movies. You don't get the sense that the people making it liked Resident Evil, or respected the source material. Sienna Guillory, who played Jill, actually played the game to prepare for her role. She gets a lot of respect for that because it shows that she cared enough to want to get it right. I bet you she is the exception, not the rule. RE Apocalypse was the closest the Anderson movies ever got to being something that resembles Resident Evil. That movie should have been about Jill vs Nemesis.
