    Something tells me this multiple times per year option will be a money making machine for CFAI, from candidates who underestimate the amount of time needed to prepare properly in order to pass. In any case, glad this madness is over for me.

    Hello Dr. Mark,
    According to the CFAI, candidates who are registered for Dec 2020 have the option of moving to another date until Oct 20 but your website is giving the option till 19th August only.
    Currently, I am registered on your website for Dec but what if my local authorities do not permit for the exams to happen, what happens to my membership in such a scenario.
    I currently reside in India and I cannot predict what would happen in December.
    Also, one more query regarding the CFAI policy.
    According to the CFAI if the Local authorities permit they would conduct exams, but how the local authorities have been defined( as a whole country or individual cities ( For ex: If Delhi permits for the exam to happen & Mumbai does not then what happens in such a scenario.
    Please resolve the above-mentioned queries.
    Thank You

    I’m so set to take December 2020 Lvl 2. The fact is that it WILL be risky taking the exam in a room with so many other people. It will be wintertime and the virus will likely be worse simply for that reason. I know, Mark, that CFAI have said that they won’t be implementing their own proprietary health and safety guidelines, but *will they actually be ENFORCING those of the local governments?* As in, if my jurisdiction mandates face coverings, but a test-taker refuses to wear one, will CFAI bar her from entering? No matter where you live in the US, a large part of the population has either actively refused or simply cannot be bothered to cover their face.
    (On the other hand, if a lot of people actually DO defer to May or August, that simply means that logically there will be fewer test-takers in December, which does allay my concerns at least somewhat.)

    Hello all, just asking in case anyone has already registered or Mark knows. Do we have to pay an additional fee to move from December to May? This clause in the CFA press release is a bit confusing to me:
    What is the pricing for December candidates wishing to register for May?
    For all December 2020 candidates wishing to sit the May 2021 CBT administration at any level, published standard registration fees will apply. Early pricing will be available for the August and November administrations respectively.
    Thank you all.

      From another answer by someone else:
      Did this last night, you will not have to pay again. If you want to switch to Feb, you simply withdraw from Dec and go through the registration process again when signing up for Feb. It will seem like it charges you again, but when you checkout it will be $0. Your information should also already be saved when registering for Feb.

    Hi Mark, could you please consider extending the deadline for upgrading the package in your website from Aug 19th to at least Mid September?

    • @MarkMeldrum
      @MarkMeldrum  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This will be in your In-Mail on the system later today:
      A note about upgrading your L2/L3 subscription:
      If you are writing this December and you have the 2020 subscription at L2 or L3, there is no need to do anything.
      If you know you are moving to CBT in 2021, we anticipate the majority will select May 2021. Upgrading to 2021 uses 100% of the 2020 fees you have paid - the upgrade fee will either be $10 CAD or $15 CAD depending on the price you paid, and access will extend to June 15th. We have coded these options into the checkout process.
      However, we do understand that those currently deferred from June to December have until October 20 to select 2021 and exit the December exam. And in doing so, a few may select a date other than May 2021. We will deal with those on a case by case basis. Just let us know if such an event occurs. You have until October 20 to willingly opt for 2021. If you select any date other than May 2021, simply provide us your new exam registration and we will ensure access is granted to that date. We anticipate the vast majority selecting May 2021.
      We are also aware that your locale may cancel the exam and this may only occur after October 20th. This is the only way out of the December exam once the 20th has passed by the way, there will be no further optional exit. In this event, we will also deal with this on a case by case basis. We also anticipate that the vast majority will select May 2021. As above, if you do select a date other than May 2021, simply provide us your new exam registration and we will ensure access is granted to that date.
      In no event will someone have to pay more than the $10 or $15 upgrade to 2021 that they would have if they selected their choice now. We have chosen to do it this way since there are so many possible variations we could not code them all in any reasonable amount of time. We have chosen to code what we feel will be what 99% of candidates will elect to do anyways, and we will manually deal with the exceptions.

    Hello Dr. Meldrum,
    is there some information publicly available regarding how the CFAI will deal with the sale of the curriculum? As far as I know, candidates have access to the online version of the curriculum or can purchase a printed version of it, ONLY after they registered for the specific level (without using third-party websites). However, this means that level II candidates clearing the Dec 2020 exam would have access to the level III curriculum only in mid-Jan. I believe the CFAI will take some action to address this problem, but I was wondering if they already said something about it and I lost that info!
    Thanks

    " If you know you are moving to CBT in 2021, we anticipate the majority will select May 2021. Upgrading to 2021 uses 100% of the 2020 fees you have paid - the upgrade fee will either be $10 CAD or $15 CAD depending on the price you paid, and access will extend to June 15th."
    If I've understood correctly, CFAI is giving those who have opted in for December 2020 till Oct 20th to defer to May. In your video here, you've said your website subscribers have until August 19th to decide whether to switch to May?

      But there is less room for error....if the total number of questions is 10, making 1 mistake means 10percent down. But in an exam with 100 questions getting one wrong means 1% down. You could argue the more the questions the more you are likely to not know something. But for people who are well prepared, a smaller exam means less room for errors, cos the cost is relatively larger :(

    Dr mark,
    If I want to sit for level 2 in December but my local area will not allow the exam to go on will I be allowed to go to a region/area and take the exam in December? Or will I be forced to defer again?

    • @MarkMeldrum
      @MarkMeldrum  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Possibly another region if space allows, but possibly deferral again.

    If i hadn't registered for the June 2020 Exam for level 2, would it still be possible to register for the December exam in 2020?

    Hi Mark - do you think 5 months is good enough time to prepare & appear for L2 (given L1 exam taken Feb 21) and full time employed ?

    Hello Dr. Mark,
    I am registered for cfa l2 2020 June exam, up to now i am not chose any option like December or may 2021. If I now chose December 2020 exam date and afterthat if I change my mind to attend the may 2021 exam is it possible ?

    • @MarkMeldrum
      @MarkMeldrum  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. You have one choice option. Select December and that's it. The only way out is if your locale cancels gatherings and CFAI has to then cancel the exam.

    Are you still offering the OFTC package?

    • @MarkMeldrum
      @MarkMeldrum  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Only 7% of candidates who selected it actually repeated the same year. With multiple exams per year, there is little value in having the repeat option from year to year.

    If I pass dec 20 level 2 and want to take a 1 year break could I finish off level 3 in may 2022?

    Hey good people.
    Okay so we can re-register from December 2020 to May 2021 as from August 20th, 2020. So if I pass May 2021 level 2, I can sit for Level 3 November 2021?

    • @MarkMeldrum
      @MarkMeldrum  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are currently registered for December, you have until August 19th to switch to May 2021. And yes, you can do L3 in November.

      No - calculator. However, in future years they may add a modelling component.

    • @GeorgeWattsTV
      @GeorgeWattsTV 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why? It is the same content and still a rigorous exam. If someone wants to claim that the new format "cheapens" it because it is more convenient then whatever. Nobody is getting the charter without working hard and gaining a broad and in depth understanding of finance.
