(00:06) The scene is set in the hall of a grand manor where a miser has hidden seven sacks of money, all his wealth, but Satan (Georges Méliès) has found a way to penetrate it (00:21) and, thanks to his helpers, makes the treasure disappear into a large wooden chest. (00:52) When the miserly owner returns home, not finding the money in its place, he attempts to open the large chest. (01:21) When he finally succeeds, instead of the money, seven she-devils come out of the chest and begin to haunt the man. Go away (02:10), it is the chest itself that comes to life and tribulates the unfortunate man. Satan returns to the scene (02:22) and with one of his underlings succeeds in imprisoning the old man in the crate, around which the whole infernal procession dances.
