  • The Yugoslavian army had their outposts on most of the Adriatic offshore islands. This military base "Banastar" was located on the island Molat
in Croatia and the only access to it is by boat.
The base consists of 3 segments:
    - 6 buildings with a pier on the inner side of Brgulje Bay,
    - 4 trenches connected by tunnels with 88mm guns directed towards Dugi otok and the open sea
    - and a fortified base with an observation post at the top to which the radar was located.
After the withdrawal of the JNA army in 1991, the artillery was taken to the Žirje battlefield and the base lost its significance. Since then, the base has been left to oblivion and the ravages
    of time.
In recent years the Banastar peninsula has been given into concession for the hunting ground. Paths are neglected and hard to find,
so a tour without pruning shears and a saw is impossible.
Remains of history still testify to some other times.
