Dude, if she had been born and raised in say Iceland or any other country where opportunities are virtually non-exsistent she would never had become the Taylor swift as we know today no matter how hard she might have worked towards it.

She's so open and vulnerable and honest here, it makes me sad because after this the media got involved and the crazy overwhelming amount of hate started piling up and she realized that she couldn't just say whatever was on her mind anymore. She has to filter everything now so people don't twist her words and she can't talk about her personal life like at all.

YES I was thinking the same thing recently when I was listening to her old song “breathe” and she knows if she keeps writing songs like that people will label her as over emotional or crazy boy obsessed, which obviously doesn’t correctly sum up who she is. She was much more honest and open about her feelings. She’s still very smart and sweet, that hasn’t changed... It just seems like she doesn’t put herself as out in the open, in the same way she use to.
It seems she’s been affected by life and it’s pain. I’m jealous of how pure she’s stayed though. Like their is a sparkle in her. She has confidence and sees the world as beautiful and has excitement. I was like her when I was a kid and then after my dad had an affair and I experienced rejection I don’t feel the same anymore. But this Taylor reminds me of innocent trusting happy excited me, before I started to see the shit in the world.

I always find it hilarious when people whine about Taylor changing and experimenting with other genres. Like...dont you understand that people GROW UP? They cant stay the same forever. That would be boring. And experimenting with different genres in music as proved to be a successful thing for many artists and bands (The Beatles for sure!!). Aritsts who experiment with music go places, there very talented.

Her truest talent is her song writing. Anyone can sing a song. But to sing a song you wrote from your experiences that also resonate with other people is her biggest skill. She has a real gift.

I don't get it why her transition from country to pop is a big deal. Like, everyone grows up. As people grow up so do their interest(well atleast for some people)
So I know this comment is a year or so late, but: I think the reason why people got upset about her transition between country to pop was because there are a lot of people who love her country-style music and is one of the reasons why the love her so much so obviously as you see that a new style instead of that has come, it takes a little adjusting. Consequently, it did feel like a big deal to people at first because they missed how her old music sounded, they missed the country times. Of course, everyone can adjust to some extent to the transition but people like myself, can't help but miss the old days of country-Taylor and it is hard to accept that you know, it's gone.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that she's actually from Pennsylvania and everything about this girl is a lie she's not Southern at all
Erika J - my take/own personal viewpoint on it (and the way people view her transition can certainly vary) Is that there is a lot of pop stuff out there already - some of it, if not a lot of it leaning toward a negative vibe, whereas country as a rule (and certainly her stuff) , in my opinion/for me anyway, has more of a healing effect.
I will say though, her song (and its lyrics), "Shake it Off" is about as healing as it gets, for a pop song. :-) I just hope she leans away from writing/performing darker songs and indeed, keeps a "healing" trajectory, as she moves her career forward :-)
She is absolute proof that hard work truly pays off. Good for her !

I can't hear her accent but I also live in Alabama where everyone has a Southern accent so I hear no difference between it and normal American accent.

She definitely doesn't have a Southern accent. At all. She's from Pennsylvania, she's a yankee. Any Southern accent she'd have is an act. I live in the South, I can spot an Southern accent real quick. And Taylor doesn't have it. Sorry.

Jessica Greene You can't put a Southern accent into a general category. There are MANY dialects in the South. Taylor's vowels are a bit long when speaking, which is a common characteristic of any Southern accent. To me, some words sound more "Southern" than others, so I'd say she has a mix of where she grew up in the North and where she moved to in the South. Sincerely, an Advanced English teacher :)
