It doesnt have to be resignation, but silent frustration and frankly dissapointment in leadership, this song is specially on theme given current events, where the war pigs launch and continue their wars regardless of how many innocents have to die, blood to grease the cogs of the war machine.

Puddles has done over 10 radio interviews, but usually he has a friend to fill in the gaps. Big Mike will also do radio interviews or podcasts, but not as often. But Puddles is entertaining on his own during these interviews without help. He may not "discuss" anything in detail, but he can keep a relevant mood going rather effortlessly with mime and just clowning around.

I've said it before: if infinite universes exist, then somewhere out there is one in which Johnny Cash did a cover of "War Pigs". And I am sure it is glorious. Seriously, stop and think for a moment what that must sound like.

Mike Geier is amazing. His Puddles persona is brilliant. He is able to add nuances in character no one has ever effectively accomplished. Every video I watch of him I get the impression I'm at a stage show. A clown walks out. Put's his suitcase down, and then blows you away with an amazing voice. One of the best voices I have ever heard.

Puddles has this surprising quality of being able to evoke meaning from the lyrics that you missed with the original. I mean, it's the same words, right? But with the original, you have all the imagery and ambience of that artist, that delivers a certain meaning. Puddles strips all that away, and shoves the natural meaning straight into your brain, as direct and honest as his voice's timbre. Amazing.
It's like he masks his physicality with the clown get-up, in order to un-mask his vocalizations. Obscuring the one, in order to 'un-obscure' the other. Wonderful!

This is my first time ever hearing Puddles. I am a huge Sabbath fan and saw them multiple times in concert. War Pigs is one of the greatest songs ever put on vinyl. This version is a great example of the brilliance of Geezers lyrics. 50+ years later the poignancy of his juxtaposition of those who start wars and those fight and suffer from them has never been clearer. The amazing compostion change between Sabbaths song to fight and protest war and Puddles change to lament and accept the failures to do so truly show the geniuos behind the lyics and the profound impact that words and music when put together can have on the listener even when separated by decades and genre's.

Just goes to show what great songwriters Black Sabbath were. If a composition can be performed in this completely different style and still be so powerful, it must be a great composition. Most modern recordings rely on a gimmick, effect or a specific sound to make them at all interesting, and dont stand the test of being covered, let alone completely transformed like this.
Black Sabbath were much more than distorted guitars and screaming lyrics. Geniuses.

I've been a fan of Puddles since hearing him on AGT on 2017. When I heard him start singing, I literally dropped what I was doing in the other room & ran to the tv to see who that voice was! I was hooked! As you, & so many others have stated, it's the clear understanding of the lyrics when he sings that is so amazing! I never cared for Black Sabbath or this song but, when Puddles released it, I was blown away by the lyrics! It was the first time I truly heard them. He has also covered Ozzy's "Crazy Train" &, same with that one, I never knew the lyrics until Puddles did it. If you haven't been to one of Puddles' shows yet, by all means, go! You won't be disappointed! He also gives the biggest hugs ever to anyone who wants one 😊

What I like about Puddles is that they don't just cover a song, they use their artistic abilities to be inspired to create something their own. I feel that a lot of covers are only imitating the original. To me, the most successful covers are songs like when Rage Against the Machine did Renegades of Funk or Johnny Cash did Hurt.

What a great marriage of thought! Puddles and Elizabeth, yes! It's hard no to be a fan of Puddles or yours. He's takes or covers of songs is spectacular ✨️ and his voice is perfect. Elizabeth what you've analyzed in his voice rings true with his music as a whole.
Not to make this about me, but as someone who studied classical voice performance education and left in my 3rd yr to pursue rock, ha. I'm aways in awe of your non-bias when it comes to vocals out of the classical genre. I wish I had had a teacher like you when I was 18 without a clue as to how to build my vocal mechanics. I had the basics, but the clarity you speak to about all aspects of voice is eye opening. I took some students myself after getting off the road and I would tell my kids that I wasn't there to make them sound like anyone. I was there to get their voices to be the best they could be and that pursuing a life in music means you need to train hard because singing once every three months live is nothing compared to singing 100 plus performances in a year. My one hope for all the kids out there is that they take you seriously. Your reactions encompass a whole verity of performance points. It's a masters class, every single one of your videos. Your second channel goes even further in depth. Great work Elizabeth.

For me, the most exciting part of Puddle's version was his choice not to hold the last syllable in the line. In Black Sabbath's version, Ozzy held the last syllable in every line. Puddles has the range and power to hold those syllables, so he made the choice not to. Not holding those syllables made the lines clipped and more direct. In addition, it created a longing, which I feel adds to the emotionality of Puddle's version.

Ozzy is a brilliant songsmith, and his emotion and energy was always top notch, but it was a rare day he was able to speak clearly enough to let that shine through very well. I love hearing song’s played and sung in different ways. Often times it’s a revelation to the lyrics, almost like hearing the song for the first time but realizing the lyrics are the same.

Lounge singer Richard Cheese covering metal songs is also a great dichotomy. And he does a hilarious version of Down With The Sickness by Disturbed which was used to great effect in the movie Dawn Of The Dead.

I was also thinking of Dick Cheese; he does kind of the reverse of this, by taking miserable self hating songs like Creep and making them sound really happy!

Wow. Puddles is quite an artist. With the somewhat upped production of this video, you can really see and feel the sorrow. So good. Going back, I really thought "Royals" was a terrific first look and memorable one. Just he getting up and walking away or staring straight into the camera at the end of the video, Puddles gets the job done. Thank you for the share.❤

The question about politicians "leaving the role of fighting to the poor" reminds me of System Of A Down's lyrics from B.Y.O.B, "Why do they always send the poor" and "Why don't presidents fight the war". The lyrics/subject matter of both songs are very similar and I haven't noticed until now. They're both anti-war, protest songs. It's thought-provoking.

I've heard other Puddles performances before, but I'm really struck by a slight Chris Cornell-esque sound he has at the end of each line... a slight twang to the pronunciation but delivered with a soft, resonant note. The perfect fit for this song, just amazing. 💜

Elizabeth, I think you'd really enjoy Tim Minchin. He's an Australian composer/lyricist, musician, comedian, actor, writer, producer and director. You might know him as the lyricist/songwriter responsible for for Matilda and Groundhog Day. He also had a part in Jesus Christ Superstar.
Of his original work, a great first song to start with would be "Dark Side (Awesome Version)" available on TH-cam. Alternatively, you could give "Prejudice" a try as well.

The emotion he finds in songs, and applies to his performances is such a genius format as a silent clown. He's the silent observer who has patiently spent time observing the world around him, seeing and hearing the feelings of others and through that attempted to find solace and reason in song, words, and emotions that provide an outlet to his introspective world. To put it then into performance and share those feelings with the world in the form of performance is both entertaining and heartwarming.

Okay, first things first: Black Sabbath and Triple P are always ingredients for for a fantastic day, just on their own. But this new collaborative animal is just pure sonic joy in the making. What really impresses me here is that Michael doesn't display his usual vocal power. Rather, he is somewhat reserved and more realistic, or at least closer to a very melodic speaking voice, which creates a near perfect blend of his own talent and that of the almighty Sabbath. Excellent song choice, my charismatic queen. What a treat to wake up to!
