Why you are not adding the weight of the soil in your last q(all) formula? In the other footing sizing video they add the weight of the soil. Thanks for the videos!!
Felix .Colon I believe you are correct Felix, but regardless if you account for the overburden pressure or not a base of 4 ft is not large enough and you end up with 5 ft being the correct answer.
yeaa i am taking CIVIL!! FE!! So what reference are you using? So if i study your videos. I should be good for the exam. Do you reccomened anything besides the michael landberg books because i think there bad!?
hope skywalker Yes the FE has a lot of reference books you can get. This might sounds crazy but I used this oldy and it was the best book I found on the topic!! amzn.to/1OuCgKB
naww the reasons i am asking because all of your problems you are solving have ZERO none formulas reference. Basically, The Ncess new refernce manual does not have any of your formulas? Also you say.. reference manuals. SO i am asking what book did you use? So i can derive them and use them.. Thanks dude
Should not you use Qnet instead of using Qultimate ?
I think this might be an error: 0.5*125*1.2*.35 = 26.25, not 63.75
Thanks for all the videos. They are really helping me a lot.
it's 0.85 (the shape factor), not 0.35
Video is correct
horchata831 Sorry my writing isn't very good. The 0.85 from Table 36.5 is 0.85 and not 0.35 as it probably looks like. Sorry

q_a=q_net/3 (not q_ult/3)
Also, clay could not have friction angle
Is this for the Civil PE EXAM or The CIVIL FE EXAM?
Cant find your formulas. Using the current FE Reference
+hope skywalker this is for the PE exam although some material is very similar on the FE, especially if you take general-civil as your tests.

riosm1958 Yes you are right. Sorry my writing isn't very good. The 0.85 from CERM Table 36.5 is 0.85 and not 0.35 as it probably looks like.
