  • Part 2 on Worm's premise has arrived.
    Part 1: • Why Worm Has The Best ...
    I will be doing a part 3, as it turns out. I'd had an idea for it, but needed a bit of encouragement to get my mind working around it, and it should be up....soon-ish? I'm not sure, A, B and C might have something cooked up, and there's this strange transmission coming in....

    something i think you forgot is a specific thing Wildbow elaborated on in reference to the way the Shards encourage conflict.
    This being specifically that, outside of specific circumstances, the shards very rarely mess with peoples minds. they simply precog the people who are most likely to use their powers in conflict in new and interesting ways, and then attach to them at their worst points. It's why Brandish and Lady Photon trigger exactly when they do, instead of during a particularly tense argument or earlier in their captivity. that specific moment, and them getting powers in it, instills in at-least one of them (Brandish) views which will lead her to fight more, and fight harder than she would otherwise.
    Taylor is chosen because, due to her traumas and her own stubbornness, she just cant deal with, in her own mind, being anything less than top of the pile in most social dynamics where she sees the slightest bit of means by which others can harm her.

    I honestly haven't read Worm yet and i only know about it through Spacebattle and the many amazing Fics there. I've pretty much spoiled the conclusion of Worm for myself but i don't regret it, the community is very imaginative and brings out the best of the story through the many Alternate Power Fic that seem to have taken a trend there. I'll definitely read it, it's been in my to read list for sometime now. really glad to see someone talk about this amazing series it really deserves more attention.

      I hope you've read it by now but honestly, there's so much in worm that even if you spoil some parts for yourself, there's always more to discover. Every time I read it, I find something I didn't catch before, something I didn't fully understand that now makes total sense. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

    This video is so convoluted for people who haven't read worm, that by the time they read it they won't remember a single thing from this. Is there a name for this kind of spoiler? The so convoluted and complicated kind that gets forgotten?

    Ok, I’m glad that finally, someone’s giving Worm the respect it deserves! Also, question to anybody who reads this: would you rather naturally trigger, or Cauldron trigger?

    • @Eryomis
      @Eryomis 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Naturally for me. I mean, some people had very tame trigger events, like losing a basketball game and the likes. Seems way safer than going full Noelle or Sveta.

    • @vincentkringle1911
      @vincentkringle1911 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Cauldron as long as the vial has a low risk of death or case53. If its not a low risk then natural trigger.

    • @3bodYking99
      @3bodYking99 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Eryomis the "tame" ones are second gen in contact with or related to a parahuman, the "baseball game" (i think it was a basketball game but i don't remember it well), was second gen, and it STILL vary much traumatised victoria.
      Also, second gen are NOT less likely to be traumatised because of their trigger event, or it not being a long lasting trauma for them.
      Also, being second gen does not guaranty a mild trigger event, with the WHOLE of the heartbroken being a big example.

    • @deathbloom27
      @deathbloom27 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@3bodYking99I think you're confusing something or maybe you're wording it incorrectly without realizing. It's not necessarily the trigger event that is traumatizing. It's the traumatic experience that causes the trigger, hence it being called the "trigger *event* ." A traumatic event happens and that triggers their powers. That's not to say the trigger *can't* be traumatic. With second Gen, the chances of it happening during a lower level stress event is higher. Victoria may have been upset and in high stress when she lost the game, but that can hardly be compared to Taylor's trigger or Brandish and Lady Photon. Upsetting? Sure. But not traumatic. That's the difference. As you said, it doesn't guarantee they won't experience traumatic events but that's because that's just how life is, it doesn't have anything to do with the powers or how they generate. Everyone goes through shit.

    • @3bodYking99
      @3bodYking99 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@deathbloom27 but that's the thing. Going through a trigger event automatically traumatises you, no matter how small it is.
      Since the trigger process changes the mind of person, mildly in some cases, VARY SEVERELY in others.
      And these changes come from the trauma and affects how you think, it's why the trauma sticks HEAVILY with all parahumans, and why how much closer to their trigger events they are, the stronger they are, because that's where the power comes from. That mind state.
      In victoria's case, even tho it's a VARY small event, it impacted her immensely, and affected how she interacts with people, and how much she TRUSTS people.
      If you believe it, the bigger trauma for victoria in ward wasn't what her sister did to her, it's her trigger event.
      In short, as i said, being second gen or further doesn't guarantee a smaller or safer trigger event. Nor would a smaller trigger event be less of a problem for you than it would be for someone with a much harsher trigger event.
      And at the end of the day, first or second gen doesn't guarantee you not going through a vary deadly and traumatising experience to get your powers with what kind of world that is.

    Ah, yes. The 'conflict protocols'. As if conflict wouldn't happen when the (Heroes&Villains)players set up a big get-together through the grapevine and word of mouth. I mean they (somehow) have a sense/or for conflict and that is always when there's more than one shard, sorry, character for a jaywalk. And Sophia pushing her hard-on for Taylor was not Administrator nagging Soph's Shard to do something so it finally could connect, after it changed from Taylors father to her. Perhaps it was Sophias CP's getting crazy with a Shard she's socially allowed (by shard standards) to have conflict but Tayler just. Wouldn't. BREAK! What drove Sophia more and more bonkers (because of subliminal TRIGGER HER! messages. That's like you getting fired, because your chef got shit on by the CEO because he can't answer a question of the president (that, in the end, you should've written the answer to).
