- We swap out the factory radio to the brand new upgraded 8.4 factory touch screen with CarPlay. I show how to take the dash apart how to take apart the radio bezel and how to install and complete this awesome upgrade. I also show what is needed to upgrade from the base 3 speed fan to the improved 5 speed fan with auto climate. I show the difference of these two radios and the features including functions. Thanks for the info, I bought a 2018 Ram 1500 quad cab express, and It has a SiriusXM radio but no car play and the local dealership just told me it can’t be upgraded bc the entire truck would hafta be rewired, that didn’t make sense, n I watched your video n knew it could be done!

I have a 2016 tradesman, and I am really interested in this upgrade. I believe you mentioned that you got the parts from someone that has access to more donor parts. If you have a good source and wouldn’t mind sharing the contact info, this fellow Tennessean would be very appreciative. This video is great btw! Our “work” trucks might not be flashy as the Laramies or nicer trim packages, but like you said we have lots of potential for upgrades.

@@nholt so I actually decided to save a little and get a gasser, I got a 2017 1500 big horn, and honestly it's awesome I kept the stock radio but from the research I've seen was pretty easy depending on what your using, I would totally recomend getting the adapter harnesses for whatever you choose because you may lose the button functionality and or specific actions. Never cut your harness lol

Excellent video! I am definitely going to upgrade my multi media screen after watching this video. Do you have a part number for the radio? I want to make sure I get the exact same one, the 8.4” non navigation with car play.
there's several brands that make nice touch screen radios that fit in there. from Alpine, Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer, JVC etc. all of them work with everything except the climate controls etc. plus they will sound better than the stock radios. they do have navigation also.

I've watched other videos and only yours has the part about wires going down through the channel along the bottom of the passenger door. What was that for? I thought swapping these out was pretty much plug-and-play.

I just did the 2019 Delphi model swap from my 2016 bighorn uconnect, I can’t get my backup camera to work or the volume up/down track skip buttons on my steering wheel to work.

My Laramie came with that of course but now the U-Connect is not supported by Spring for voice texting. U-Connect sent me a connector that plugs into my data link plug but I can't use voice text.

Hi Seth, I got a screen replacement on Ebay and got a new bezel. The screen didnt come with the receiver so I am assuming I can just disconnect the 3,0 from the receiver and install the 8.4 in it?

I just replaced my 8.4 AN with a 2018 8.4 UAS unit and for some reason I lost my back up camera... Mine is a manual transmission 3500 laramie. Has me baffled. Hope my local dealer can take care of this for me

Hey Seth, I have a 2019 1500 Classic with the Tradesman trim. Where there would normally be radio controls I have shifter buttons, and my backup camera displays in the corner of my rearview. Like you, I can't deal with this thing stock. I love it otherwise. Would installing this move the camera image to the screen? Also, for talk texting or talking phone calls would I have to install a mic somewhere? Or does the radio have a tiny built in I'm not seeing? Thanks for the upload. Really helpful...

ryan cameron no you have to pin the wires to the 8.4 or but the re route kit. I’m going to have my cargo camera wired to mine and leave the back up in the rear view camera
