    I have been given only 8 weeks to complete by masters thesis but I have struggled within the first 3 weeks of knowing the research gap and you just save me from stress. Thank you, I really appreciate it, from Ghana.

    I wish to thank you for simplifying the subject. I often found it challenging to distinguish between a research problem and the research gap. However, you drew a clear line on the topics. Thanks.

    Thank you so much. I've been struggling with how to identify research gaps in literatures and this has hampered my ability to write research articles. Stumbling on your video today gave me clarity as compared to several TH-cam videos I ever watch which never helped. This will form a basis to begin my research journey and will be here over and over again until I master this art of writing. Gracias!

    The need for the study is "to fill the gap." The "...aid for decision-making" should be a significance of the study.

    Research gaps can be further broken down to, among others but not limited to, (1) time gaps (2)
    geographical gaps. For example a gap identified and researched in 1970 would have somewhat change and new issues would have emerged even though the topic was researched. If a research was done on the Dayak people, the same research could yield different results if conducted on the Australian aborigines.

    We do research 'to solve problem' not to find 'a gap' or to find 'what is missing' or 'no study has been conducted' or any metaphorical statement. How can we so sure that 'NO study has been conducted on the TOPIC' ? What about the future research suggested from the previous studies or the deficiency of the literature ? Which one is the research gap ?

    • @PHILOnotes
      @PHILOnotes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The "gap" is the problem itself. A problem cannot be a "research problem" if it is not a "gap" in the first place.

    • @PHILOnotes
      @PHILOnotes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Also, if it's simply a "problem", like corruption, you don't need to do research to solve it. All you need is good policy and a leader with a political will. It's long discussion, but all types of research begins with a "gap".

    • @PHILOnotes
      @PHILOnotes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      As to how we determine whether no one has done yet on that topic, THAT'S the reason why we have "Literature Review". That's one of the main functions of the Literature Review.

In review papers , if i am writing about a process which has been covered by authors in previous research papers but they didn't cover how to implement the process, what are the challenges in implementation can it be considered a research gap. There are few online web articles on the implementation and challenges but not covered in research papers. I believe it will be considered a gap... Hope to hear from you
