- For my 830th review, Jhené Aiko delivers a meandering and scattered but no less textured and personal sophomore follow-up to her criminally underrated debut.
Best Songs: 'Jukai', 'When'A We Love', 'Nobody', 'Overstimulated', 'Ascension' ft. Brandy, 'Only Lovers Left Alive' ft. TWENTY88
Worst Songs: 'Psilocybin (Love In Full Effect)' ft. Dr. Chill

Thanks for watching!
LOVED your analysis, first one I’ve ever seen to actually give an in-depth exploration not only to the beats but also to the lyrics & the composition as a whole. Really liked how u described the moods every instrument gave on some songs… if Jhené’s music ever needed something to be understood, it would definitely be “feeling” her music out, bc she really lives & experiences music on a deeper level.
Props to u! New sub 😌☝🏻
One of the best albums this year
Trip was such a beautiful album. Trippy, introspective, vulnerable, complex and spiritually poetic. Reflects a lot of my current emotions. Jhene did it again. She is shamefully underrated
Jhene Aiko dropped this album out of nowhere didn't she? It's a beautiful record.
Just started binging this guys reviews but the most I got out of it was my newfound LOVE of Jhene Aiko thank you So much Spectrum Pulse !!
I really love how you can ses Jhene's greatness as an artist. She really is amazing, so talented. She definitely deserves more recognition. Trip is a fantastic album, I think one of the best of the year

I don't think a feature length album has ever worked without a narrative throughline.
Well, except maybe Going Up: Elevator Music's Greatest Hits.
Are you going to review Rapsody's new album? It's one of my favorite Hip-Hop releases this year.
Second Avenger Hopefully. It was amazing!
Could you review Hollywood Undead's new album when it comes out?
Finally somebody actually review this shit
Still waiting for the review of the new Dream Syndicate album "How Did I Find Myself Here"... amazing return for the band with their first album in almost 30 years.
Are you doing Macklemore
say "and hell..." one more time.
love the album but it hurts my eyes to look at the album cover
Fabian Gandara this album cover is trippy as fuck! And that Jhené drawing at the center is amazing.
Nice ablum
The longer it went on, the more I noticed the negatives of Aiko and her performance. It began to feel repetitive, and I noticed how Aiko's vocal range/vocal talents were somewhat limited, in that a better vocalist could have brought a several of these songs to life better. Aiko is a good singer, don't get me wrong, but she's not expressive or captivating enough to be interesting for 85 minutes, in my opinion.
There are a few interesting instrumentals, and a couple good melodies, but often the melodies feel very stagnant. A song has a structure, but it doesn't go anywhere or evolve based on that structure; there's not many emotional climaxes or much sense of pacing in many of the tracks. It adds to the "samey" feel and makes some of the songs feel unfinished.
Also, was it just me, or did the "narrative" get almost completely dropped by the end? It's not an impressive narrative or even a very interesting one, but the fact that it doesn't even have much in a satisfying conclusion didn't sit well with me.
Glad you enjoyed the record more than I did though.
A Grim Auxiliatrix all justified gripes.
But at least some songs had meaning like LSD, that’s a song about her brother & sing to me was a mother and daughter song wich you never really see
Blah blah blah blah blah
