I don't want it to be like the movies. I don't like that most is the movies had different directors. It made the whole series feel disjointed. Chris Columbus was the only one who I feel captured the feel of the books.
It needs to be a well made faithful adaptation of the books. If they keep to that I think the series will be reasonably successful. Many Public domain works have had many adaptations, with a few adaptations each which are successful. Robin Hood, Pride and Prejudice, Christmas Carol. Obviously Harry potter isn't a Public domain work. But it is a classic book series with plenty to adapt.
There is a third reason for doing it, tha you miss; a television series can add more of the nuance of the books. As great as the movies are, they left out a great deal. So, adding details, and keeping the lore relevant to a new generation.
Good thing the one that has most potential in terms of the HP franchise is taking the universe in the medium of animation, particularly making the animated adaptation of the Ilvermorny history as a filmmaker myself
The tv series should have been animated, not live action That would have helped separate it from the movies and let the show have its own niche They could have made a timeless animated series that is book accurate, but instead they will make something that will split fans and bring unnecessary controversy
@ 99% of the tv show is gonna be CGI idiot “Normal grown people don’t watch animated kiddy shows, they watch live action Harry Potter kiddy shows” You’re an idiot troll
Maybe life action is not the way to go. Animated would be worth a try. The making of these 8 movies had such a profound and long lasting effect on the child actors, and not only in a good way, that I would not wish that on a set of new children. It is a form of child labour, probably with contracts for 7 or more years. The alternative would be switching actors in between seasons and I do not expect to see anyone reacting positively to that.
Yes, I think live action will be an negative factor since it will be hard to see someone else play our favourite characters. It worked for Star Wars: The Clone Wars series.
The announcement of this show has really shown me how different my opinions are to most of the fanbase. I've been waiting for this for about 20 years. I thought the movies were mostly mediocre and disappointing. The only ones I care to rewatch are the first two. And that's out of nostalgia more than anything else. The only point I agree with here are that the early books are the ones that least need a redo, but even then, it's not like those early films were perfect adaptations. They could definitely be done better. Colour me excited!
i feel the same way. the notion, a majority of the fans seem to share, that a new spin off-show would have been a better idea than sticking to the books is ridiculous to me. spin offs are always bad and the movies never did justice to the books.
@@RobTheResearcherI understand what the fanbase sees and I get what they mean. A lot of people want a Marauders spin off and I can understand that because these days everything is a remake. That being said I want the TV show to be a bit more book accurate, I want an accurate representation of Ginny Weasley and I want characters that didn’t show up in the OG movies. I grew up with the OG Harry Potter movies and the cast will always be my Harry, Ron and Hermione. I’ve seen some people ask, why do you need to make a remake? Just show the new generation the older movies, the problem with the older movies is that the latter half of the 8 movies are kinda shit, especially in my opinion Half blood prince.
I adore your channel name, first off. Second off I gree with you about the movies, the first 2 were good then it got worse progressively. I stopped watching when ootp was rubbish. I disliked the last 2 books for the most part, though, feeling she just got tired and no longer cared as so much did not ad up for so many reasons, but like you in your comments, most fans don't get there with me, just my husband and sister, but we're us so that's nothing new. Bella L
@@RobTheResearcher Exactly! A lot of people are saying they'd prefer a show based around the marauders. I guess cause that's a common thing to write about in the fanfiction side of the community, but I'm really not too interested in that era. I guess because everything we need to know about it is revealed in the main series, and also because, as a prequel, we know where it's all going to end up anyway. I'm not completely against spin-offs, but I'd much rather see the main series done properly. (If it were up to me, I'd rather it be an animated show, but I guess we can't have everything)
@@thelestrangelair Yeah, I was a bit disappointed by the final book too. It all felt a bit unsatisfying. Though I've always thought the 5th was the worst.
I agree. Most people, when they think of Harry Potter, think of the movies and the world it created based off the books. Universal Studios has based the Wizarding World off the movies. It's going to be really hard for people to watch this and not think of the movies. Also, we see the shrinking of the fandom with Star Wars as well. Once new, bad projects come out, more people leave the fandom. There are still a wide group of people that love Star Wars, but don't care to watch the new stuff because it isn't around the original story of the Skywalkers, hence why the Sequel movies split the fandom.
I’ve always been against the tv show remake because it’s not needed…we already know the story and have 2 versions of it why are we going to be excited for a third version when they should be looking at expanding the Harry Potter universe
all it needs to work is to find book accurate actors/actresses, add the details we all missed from the books and leave the wokeness out of the script. sure, some characters, if depicted book-accurate instead of movie-accurate will feel off and may cause backlash (sorry for the fans of Severus, Hermione and Draco) but, even so, I would prefer it. don't get me wrong, I love the movies but there's so much wrong in them that having a series that corrects that would be a bless. my main concern is that the movies already were biased towards hermione granger is a godess and Ron Weasley is comedic relief so I'm quite sure there will be some wokeness ruining the series. and, of course, I'm not sure if the series will do justice to the characters that were missing on the movies. at the very least, I hope this time Harry and Lily have eyes the same color. I'm fine with Daniel Radcliff having light blue eyes but c'mon... find an actress with blue eyes to play his mom. or that she can wear colored contact lenses.
Actually I think the Harry Potter fandom is expanding. 1. People introducing younger family members to the wizarding world. 2. Numerous reaction channels falling in love with the books and movies.
I honestly stumbled into knowing the show was coming out while i was searching for more potter content, I think even if its bad, more content to add to the world could be supper cool and keep people connected to the wonderful world.
This show will not be page to screen accurate . I can’t believe people don’t realise this that in order for things to work on screen things do need to change it’s called adaptation not everything on the page works on screen . Look at the masterpiece Lord of the rings trilogy that many don’t realise are not complete page to screen they were adapted to fit the film medium.. also with people saying they should have always done a tv series but when the films were started tv shows did not have the budgets they have nowadays and episodes were cut around the ad breaks so an hour of scheduled tv was mostly 40-45 min actual episode length
They need to stop reliving the past and give the people what they want: more Harry! Specifically, more of Daniel Radcliffe. Imagine a series about Harry doing his job as an Auror. Nix the Cursed Child from the canon and have Harry be a soft spoken, hard boiled detective investigating magic crimes. Think of it as The X-Files or the first season of True Detective, but with a bit of wizard whimsy. A little "monster of the week," a little dash of cosmic horror and supernatural mystery mixed in to draw in audiences from all walks of life. Really expand the Wizarding World and give people something to latch on to. Call the series _Harry Potter and the Department of Aurors_ (to the casual listener, it will sound like _horrors._ ) Then have Frank Darabont or Vince Gilligan as showrunner and 💥 instant hit!

Even if the show is a success, the movies are so monumental and iconic that I really don't think it'll ever live up to their legacy. It's a movie franchise that just had a poster and date for the final movie (without the title) and everyone knew what it was and got hyped. And I keep hearing the same argument that it'll be more accurate to the books, even then, I doubt it will live up. And that's because 99% of this fanbase are completely clueless on the process of book-film adaptations. Honestly, what you say how the series could be the end of Harry Potter... that's sad to say the least. We just have to keep our fingers crossed, I guess. But speaking of fantastic beasts, I think the failure of that series was for the reasons that would not be the case for the new Harry Potter series. I, for example, didn't really love it because it just wasn't about school and teenagers, therefore didn't really make me feel cosy and nostalgic, and I'm not into 1920s America, and honestly not a big fan of Dumbledore. I may have liked Queenie (I may have written her name wrong) and Jacob, but overall it felt mostly like watching adult people doing boring adult stuff. And of course, with no books to add richness to fantastic beasts... you know. Well... at least we will surely have one season and honestly, the thought of the new Harry Potter series is one of the things that keeps me going in my life, I'm saying to myself like "I wanna see it finished, imma just wait and have patience" 😌
