      only a welder would understand. I have used all kinds of things, Visegrips, piled up boxes, clamps etc. My favorite is a roller stand I bought to run wood through my thickness planer. It lost its job in the woodshop and is now on the welding trailer. LOL I can move it adjust its height and I actually like to role my forearm on the top roller so I can weld a longer stretch without having to stop.

    Another enjoyable video. One of the reasons I like your channel so well among many is that you don't waste the viewers time. No long opening shenanigans or extraneous drone shots. I like that a lot as I have limited time to watch the many channels I am interested in and it helps maximize my time.

    Great job young man. Curious as th why you did a kind of spot weld technique at the sharp end of the ear? I like the use of the adjustable spanner being used as a prop too. I have used Mig on plenty of bucket repairs and not one customer has come back and said there has been any problems. To be fair, I would venture to say most attachment, bucket and machine manufacturers use Mig to make their products anyway. Top quality stuff as usual!

    Hello Isaac. Welding around the pins with the mig torch held vertical & the nozzle pointing straight down. Consider a means of supporting the cable to reduce the small radius it’s been forced into.
    Also many mig machines have a detachable wirefeed & control unit. Hoist it up on the crane to let the welding touch dangle. Will reduce the bends and straighten the wirefeed liner.

    One of the many things your videos do, because you cover a wide range of heavy steel, is answer a lot of questions. So

    For anybody who wants to weld better, study the torch angles. See how he burns into the puddle. See how he favors the thicker metal. It isn't just spraying glue on top. It is burning into the metal and letting it cool with the shielding gas keeping the oxygen out. Great job! Very penetrating, I was glued to every minute.

  • @jacobc5757

    I C WELD - Wouldn’t it be better to bevel the weld seams and weld all the way through the joints to get a 100% bond? From experience the mini excavators are put to more work and more stress because they are more versatile and easier to transport from job to job!

    • @ICWeld
      @ICWeld  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, however, I was copying the amount of weld that was on the original part when I separated the two pieces. Smaller machine = less strength + same size welds, should be good.

    The job looks perfect to me! I wonder about preheating beforehand. That is with the assumption that the steel in the bucket is not mild steel but something more like T-1. In the past, I've welded T-1 with no problems. It's always been said that T-1 is hard to weld, lots of preheat, can't weld T-1 to mild steel, etc. MIG and flux-core always seemed to be as good as rod. Have never had a failure where rod would have held.
