While you've had and shared many trips near and far with us, Chris, this has to be one of the most fascinating in my opinion. So much history underfoot, and all around. Thank you for sharing this with us, and for your ability to communicate so well the history of this amazing land.

Very beautiful area. Love the lake. I understand that the mounds have to be excavated to learn more about the Vikings, but it's sacred ground, the final resting place, most likely for a warrior. So sad

The mounds were broken into during the viking age. (And FYI it is the Oslo fjord you are seeing, not a lake)

That's so awesome. I'm wondering if some of those large trees in the mounts are hiding some artifacts in their trunks.

The Borre mounds were broken into during the viking age (when Harald Blåtann were King in Denmark)

Great series! I base all my Viking knowledge on Asassin's Creed Valhalla so needless to say, I'm an expert on Viking stuff.

What would be ideal, is to unearth each mound, and remove everything in the mound. Clean, if possible each item and then place all the objects in a museum. While this is going on, videos and still photos would be taken, as well as what each mound looked like before it was dug into. That would really show history for sure. Leaving the mounds like they are, and not digging into them, keeps history from everyone. Thank you for this and all the videos of Norway, you have shown us, and any more you show us. I had no idea how interesting and beautiful Norway is, till now. I know many other countries are beautiful and interesting, too!

Vikings did not take accurate records, a lot of the history is based upon lore and stories that were told and passed down for generations. I am of Norwegian heritage with Viking ancesters and it gets hard to trace back viking heritage because of the lack of records.
