Nice installation. I wouldn't worry too much about not having gages newer reliable cars. But if you drive a 10 year plus old beater, chances are that original alternators could be at the end of their life cycle. It could provide you early warning before it leaves you stranded. Older high mileage vehicles require constant vigilance.

It's nice to have if you run a newer vehicle with aftermarket equipment. You can see what's happening to the system under load.

i dissgree, i just got stranded on a 20019 Yaris, no voltage gauge what so ever on the dashboard, basically the past days it started normally, it just showed some trouble starting todayy ONCE, and on the next stop i had to do on a store, nothing but clicks...
a gauge would have shown me some lo voltage condition, and newer cars actually can start even if the battery is like 11V or probably lower, as i just took it off the charger after several hours, the battery shower 12.4V no load... and dropped to 10.8V and the engine still started once, but turning it off, then just clicks...

You really need these on all vehicles to find out when your the alternator is going bad dropping to 12+ volts intermittently and not showing 13.x to 14.x volts at all times.

Is handy. There are vehicles with regulated voltage control systems where it does fluctuate th-cam.com/video/8NRajpYXGb4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LOtAuSKR4-myecRP

Did you ever make a video showing how to make the relay? I’m in the middle of my setup and am at a standstill trying to figure it out.

Great install vid. I am in between rewiring my boat, golf cart and classic car right now. I know alot about mechanics/fabrication just havn't dabbled with 12v electrical much. Great content.

I love the attention to detail. The shrink wrap over the loom is a great idea. As is the factory style connector. I really hate spade connectors.

Great tutorial, I recommend when soldiering close to electronics use a little alligator clip to be a heat sink to protect from cooking anything down stream, again really great vid. I had to add a volt meter to my 2017 Nissan Electric NV200

That's a good option to have inside while starting any vehicle. I actually modified my schumacher battery tester to be able to plug into the cig lighter port instead of needing to pop the hood every time. I like how the loom was done on the harness. I never have the periphery proper sized heart shrink tubes. I just end up using electrical tape and zip ties (zaps)

    • @AnthonyJ350

Definitely. I was using 1/8th inch in the video. I can't even find it on Amazon, have to buy it from a local distributor.
