I am really concerned about getting bugs on my plants if I take them outside. A year ago I found mealy bugs on my Jade and Portulacaria plants a few weeks after I brought them back inside. We have never had mealy bugs before and I never want to have them again! We live in south central NYS and I had never had mealy bugs before. I’m not sure if it was being outside all summer that exposed them to mealy bugs or if it could have been the plants that someone had brought me from Florida the previous June. We did not notice them until a few weeks after the plants were brought back inside so I am really leery about taking any of my plants outside again. We have succulents and several other types of plants. I have also found that the indoor plants love the outside summer weather a little too much. They grow wonderfully outside but when we bring them back inside they tend to regress quite a bit, like they are pouting about being inside again. Is it worth taking them outside when there are so many possible negative effects?
I absolutely think it is worth bringing succulents out, they really need that fresh weather to do well. i've never experienced that sort of regression you are referring to.
In my case its the opposite 🤭 I live in zone 10a, so I take them outside during the winter and am bringing them in today as we are forecasted to reach over 100. Bringing my succulents outside has made them grow faster, stronger and fleshier, so the benefits are crazy!
Devin, Excellent video .Now I know why my some of my young Agaves struggled. I put them out in direct sun and too much rain too early. Didn’t realize the they needed protection when developing their root systems. I live in western NY (zone5) I leave my agave and opuntia out all summer in direct sun and bring them in in October to a three season sun room to winter over. They usually over winter well but I sometimes lose a few Question? Can you do a video on when and how to properly prepare your cold hardy ( agaves and opuntia ) for dormancy? Thanks

I also love my succulents and many flower for me, I also have many of the plants you have in your home. My problem is the Aglaonema Pictum Tricolor you know how much the cost do you have any advice for how to care for them?
You have a beautiful collection and what a great area to acclimate them. I have smaller succulents similar to the ones you have on the ground, every year they go outside they get eaten by pests and holes are left in their chubby leaves. Any ideas? I was thinking of just leaving them inside this year unless there is something i can spray on them. Zone 5. Thanks for another great video!

Hey Nata! Yes I know they are quite expensive!! I’ve grown other Aglaonema but never the pictum tricolor
