Oh wow I found a root connection here finally 😃- in Pakistan there’s an African community called something like Sheedies who migrated from Africa and who have a festival every year to pay tribute to the crocodiles who are also harmless to people

    West African crocodile
    Relationship with humans
Compared to the Nile crocodile, the West African crocodile is smaller: Adults are typically 1.5-2.5 m (5-8 ft) long,[11] and maximum is perhaps 3-4 m (10-13 ft).[12] It is also less aggressive than the Nile crocodile and usually does not attack humans.[3] Mauritanian traditional peoples who live in close proximity to West African crocodiles revere them and protect them from harm. This is due to their belief that, just as water is essential to crocodiles, so crocodiles are essential to the water, which would permanently disappear if they were not there to inhabit it. Here the crocodiles live in harmony with the humans, and never attack swimmers.[8]

In Sudan and Southern Egypt Nubians keep crocodiles in a pit in their homes for good luck. Sobek was the crocodile god of ancient Egypt. Crocodiles were revered in Africa for thousands of years. This is deep ancient African spirituality.

Sanjay Patel Crocodiles can eat up to half its body weight. Some crocs can be up to 1100lbs. There are approximately 200crocs in that lake. Do you really think that the chicken alone could sustain them? There is harmony in that place, probably the last shred of it left between humans and animals.

You have respect for the crocodile because they can eat you
You need to have respect for all forms of life- feeding a life chicken to a crocodile is not having respect for that chicken's life- and I know some will think it insane- call it whatever- did you see the fear in that chickens eyes as it was being dangled in front of that crocodile???
This should not happen- and for people to come observe this cruelty is even worse- tourists are paying for you to torture an animal for your own gratification
The humane thing to do is to kill that chicken mercifully and then if you want to maintain your ritual feed the croc the dead chicken
God loves all animals and this should not be allowed- how a tourist can stand there and observe an animals screams is beyond me
That nasty crocodile would be just as happy with a dead chicken!

Honestly, it's not rocket science to understand that the villagers feeding the crocs, along with the fish, wild birds & other mammals they kill & consume keeps them nourished, happy & unlikely to attack the villagers. Crocs are cold blooded so don't require huge feeds very frequently. The supplemental feedings they receive from the villagers is what's keeping the villagers safe from attack. Nothing more. The people have semi domesticated the crocs. Much like the behaviour crocs develope in farms where crocs are raised for their skins the crocs near the village are also semi tamed due to the feedings they receive.

Except that it's not a story. I live in Burkina Faso, and it does exist. I've been there once.

It's excellent that the villagers have managed to gain the interest of tourists & develop a source of income by feeding these crocs. Also a tourist attraction in the USA & other places is to visit crocs or alligator farms, the reptiles are fed for the public. A well fed croc or gator is a much less dangerous one. Plus, it's obvious that crocs & gators do possess intelligence. However, Nile crocodiles are one thing. It's doubtful this harmonious relationship could exist with Saltwater crocs even fed.
It's a heartless & cruel practice to feed live chickens to these crocs. People should boycott such practices not observe them & revere them. At least the chickens should be killed prior to feeding them to the crocs. Otherwise the villagers are just practicing & primitive, barbaric & cruel behaviour. It's reprehensible to support their behaviour by paying to witness it. To show such cruelty in this day & age is backward & ignorant, as well as heartless. At least kill the chicken before feeding it to the crocs to limit its suffering. It's obvious the chickens are being unnecessarily terrorised before being eaten. A cruel, ignorant, backward, primitive & barbaric tribe of people. They likely "sacrifice" other defenseless creatures to the crocs, as well as the poor live chickens. Savages.
