    Hope you don't mind if I call you Eb (short for Ebeneezer). Very nice first video. Yes, it IS a surprise to find out that so many people outside are so kind and caring. In fact, since JWs are brought up to believe the opposite, I was sort of shocked to find that I had a lot of changing to do to be half as kind and caring as most of the people I met on the outside. Look forward to hearing more of your story. As a gay man, I came to believe that the most important thing I could do to challenge all the lies, stereotypes, and phobia was to "come out." And "coming out" of the jdubs is the single most powerful way to prove to family and "friends" on the inside that they are really trapped in a fear-filled high control group. Make the most of your freedom, go to college if you haven't already, and get yourself into a position where you can really help others. I started college at about the age you are now, and became a licensed professional in a helping profession. Set your goal, spread your wings, and get ready to take off!

    Nice job on your first video (testimony). I had the same experience with a lack of concern from my friends when I first left. It’s so weird to experience that from the people you think value you. They immediately wrote me off, and this was before I was even df’d! I went through a terrible crisis, and the silence was deafening! It’s like no one cared, or was equipped with any kind of empathy to ask what was going on, or how they could help, or even if I was getting any help.
    Congratulations on waking up and gaining control over your own life! Best wishes to you!

    It takes YEARS to deprogram!! It took me 15 years after fading to walk through church doors ( my faith in God had been destroyed) and on top of it all I was sooo confused... what part of what I had been taught was true & what was a lie!! A day didn’t go by that Armageddon didn’t haunt me!! It turns our lives upside down, to say the least!! And then the shunning is brutal also!! I left 25 years ago & I can tell you that it is now all in my past, except the shunning ( lost 4 generations of my family to this organization) . I have my faith back (finally) Ultimate Mordecai u tube channel is excellent!!! It does take time to sort through everything, after all, every aspect of our lives changed! I wish you well on your journey & new path 👍

    My story is a bit similar. I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness but never baptized as one, fell away when I moved out at 18, came back in my mid 20's, wanted to get baptized, studied, but instead got caught up in a disturbing and bizarre JW scandal shortly after I became an unbaptized publisher. In the process, I learned the truth about "the truth". I too, also became an atheist. This was about 8 years ago. Back then there weren't many Ex-JW videos on TH-cam, so I watched a lot atheist videos, primarily the Atheist Experience, and I still do.
    In terms of figuring things out, one of the most beneficial things I did was take an introductory philosophy and philosophy of religion classes at a community college. I also took plenty of science classes, physical anthropology, anthropology of religion, magic, and witchcraft, biology, geology, earth history, astronomy, environmental science, chemistry, and mineralogy (and all associated labs). It's been a great journey, selecting classes the Watchtower Society would likely frown upon. But if you can only take one class, go with intro to philosophy. The critical thinking skills you acquire is very empowering in life. School is also a good place to meet people. As for me, my major is geology with a triple minor in philosophy, biology, and religious studies. I've always been fascinated with science, but I felt I couldn't pursue it as a JW. But I certainly can as an atheist.
    Secondly, join an atheist meetup group/club if you live in a big city. There's people from highly religious backgrounds, and always one or two Ex-JWs there to relate to. Third, always read a book. Even at the public library, there's plenty of books on atheism and religion.
    It's a long journey, but one thing I can tell you is this: All of the science and philosophy classes I have taken and books I've read, has only given me a sense of how much I still don't know about the natural world, and how abysmally ignorant I was when I still believed in Watchtower theology. There is a very rich world of immense knowledge out there, apart from the confines of the pathetic and tiny bubble of Watchtower's worldview.

      Thank you for your story JW Skeptic. I have been a PIMO and an agnostic atheist for 3 years now. It's wonderful that you were able to educate yourself in philosophy and the sciences. Learning about logical fallacies, (and all the ones watchtower is guilty of) how science works, and what constitutes "strong evidence," has helped me tremendously in my journey from religious fantasy to reality. Most of my family and friends, however, are all-in, hence my PIMO status. I got baptized in my early teens(not realizing it would be the worst decision I ever made), thinking it was the right thing to do, and that it would make my parents and all my friends happy. Here I am now, still going to meetings with my all-in wife, becoming more and more mentally ill every time Genesis mythology, (adam/eve, the flood, ect.) evolution, the over-lapping generation, and end-time propaganda are discussed. Oy vey! What I wouldn't give for a second chance. Or maybe I could hope that humanity is conquered and enslaved by hostile space aliens,so the JWs can give up on waiting on Yahweh and having everything figured out. LOL.

    welcome to your freedom!!! So glad you left that cult. I strongly encourage you to watch the videos of ultimate Mordecai he was a jw for over 30 years of his life. There is a God except his name is not Jehovah, think about it Jesus never ever said the word jehovah, he always called him my father or the one who sent me. There's still so much for you to find out now that you can make your own decisions, use your critical thinking skills, explore so many things. There's a saying that says, I rather have questions I can't answer than having answers I can't question. We worldly people welcome you with open arms. Don't let this cult take away from you the opportunity to get to know the REAL GOD... You will have the support of the ex jw community, listen to their stories, you have got a lot to learn. I always felt that the organization had it's own trinity, Jehovah, the watchtower and the governing body, you have left not the truth but a big fat lie!!! Do your research and let the truth set you free... JESUS!!!

    I barely stumbled upon this video and you have me in tears. I’m 15 and I feel the same you felt from your experience. Sadly because of my age it’s not easy to just stop going to the meetings and have your parents stop forcing you to practice this religion.

    • @TheRealScrooge
      @TheRealScrooge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm so sorry to hear about your situation, however, if you haven't gotten baptized yet then you are in a very lucky position. While it sucks that you still have to attend meetings and just be forced to keep up appearances, you only have a few more years before you can walk away from it all.
      It is a very difficult path we got put on because of our parents but you can do this and can get out of it before things get pretty bad like with some of us who didn't get out of that religion until we were much older. Just keep yourself educated, watching videos and questioning everything, always do your research and never accept what someone tells you and believe their word for it.
      I'm sure you are a strong individual and you'll be able to make your own path in life. It will take a little bit of patience but you got this!

    • @brt13456
      @brt13456 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheRealScrooge yeah I have not baptized but the pressure on doing it has been on me for a couple of years now. I recently was announced as a publisher because I thought that’d help me more with being more spiritual but it obviously has not. I also recently started looking for videos like yours and doing my research. At first I felt so much guilt for even looking up information online but now I know that I’m doing the right thing because I feel better that now I just have to be patient about leaving.
      I’ve been assisting meetings since I was 3 so I’ve practically been here my whole life 😅 and you’re definitely right, just how you mentioned in your video not everybody knows how sad it actually feels to be part of this religion and the pressure you go through. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety 2 years ago but I haven’t gotten any support with that. I try hard to cope with it but I still feel alone most of the times. Thankyou for replying to me and I know it’s hard even after leaving so I hope you are doing okay!

    • @TheRealScrooge
      @TheRealScrooge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brt13456 I do understand that the pressure to get baptized would be heavy and real, but do not give into it if at all possible. Just spin your wheels as best as you can and I'm sure you'll be able to do it. If anything give the excuse that Jesus didn't get baptized until he was 30 and he was "perfect"!
      I do understand what you mean about the pressure and how it just is soul crushing, especially when it comes to feeling guilty over having normal human emotions. But yes, keep doing research, keep doing what you're doing so that way you can live the full and genuine life you deserve!

    Well done with the video.
    Exactly the same as you- verbatim.
    It’s not easy at all, we don’t have a fairy tale answer for life anymore, for the universe. Maybe there is no answer...
    99% of worldly people are genuine like you say,
    What I’ve found hard is what is the purpose of life- we’ve been told that living for yourself or family only is shallow, it’s shows a whole list of life skills that we didn’t learn

    Thanks for sharing. I can't figure out why so many ex-JWs become atheist. Except it seems a bit more logical.
    Thanks again for sharing. You seem very loving and you love your cat (who is adorable), I wonder how having children will change that? You'd make a wonderful father. ??
    Interestingly, just listening to you, I realize I have had great fulfillment in my life. But I had to give up some thongs to get that fulfillment. I had to leave my job, move to Hawaii, etc. to get off the treadmill. There was fulfillment in just a. change of pace.
    Then you spoke of living forever. What will fulfill you then? I think if you lack the capacity to enjoy people, living forever would be boring. But if you like people and there's 4 billion people on the planet whom a computer links you with to live with every other year, it would take 8 billion years to get to know every other person on the planet for one year each. With a year in between just to do your own thing, that would take 16 billion years.
    I'm lucky that I'm pretty much content (at 69) with my present life, but I did have dreams that I fulfilled. Anyways.....
    Take care.

    That’s exactly what the Watchtower does, is when you do finally wake up and break the spell, they have no belief of a higher power. I hope and pray in time, you will find Jesus Christ and accept him into your heart. Religion in Latin stems from the word Religare which meant to thwart from forward progression; told hold back; to bind. I recommend starting with Mark Passio’s seminar videos named Natural Law. You will be mind blown. Enjoy the journey you’re on and live every minute with gratefulness in your heart bcus you were one of the lucky ones to come out of Watchtower and break their spell. Peace and many blessings to you!

    My realisations were very similar to yours. I met and fell in love with the kind of person I believed only existed in the organisation. That started me down the path of thinking that if what I was taught about worldly people was wrong, what else was?
    When I finally realised TTATT, it suddenly hit me that we, as humans, are responsible for what happens to the world because Jehovah isn't going to step in and fix everything. It TERRIFIED me!!! I now had to worry about the fate of the world every time Donald Trump said or done something stupid (which is quite often) 🤣🤣🤣

    • @TheRealScrooge
      @TheRealScrooge  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel you there with that comment about politics and Trump. It's the reason why I wanted to share my story in the first place --- to just get people to understand that waking up is just the beginning and now the real work begins if we want to live in a world anywhere close to what we were falsely promised. We gotta make our own paradise but be realistic and also see the beauty in the flaws of the world too.

    Just noting, what do you think about in regards to having children?
    Just for your boredom. The next level.
    CORRECTING THE DATE FOR THE FALL OF JERUSALEM FROM 607 BCE OR 587 BCE TO 529 BCE:
    Basically, what happened is that Darius I died at Marathon. Xerxes was extremely angry and decided to wipe out the Athenians for having killed his father. So after 10 years he amassed a huge land and sea army to attack Athens. He destroyed Athens but his navy was defeated by the Greeks in the straits of Salamis. He fled back to Persia in shame and became a laughingstock in Greece. But also an extremely hated king for having destroyed all the beautiful architecture and art at Athens. So there were always assassination attempts and a faction in Greece who wanted to war with Persia and get revenge. When Darius died, though, Xerxes took up the throne name of "Artaxerxes." Darius I, per Ezra 6 : 14, 15 died in his sixth year. He had begun to build at Persepolis in his 4th year while he was co-ruler with Xerxes, but could only barely finish one building, his palace, where Xerxes was depicted as his co-ruler. This forced Xerxes to finish the buildings at Persepolis, only he completed those buildings under his new name of "Artaxerxes." So if you didn't know it, it appeared there were three kings building at Persepolis instead of two. When Themistocles fled there and observed this, it inspired him to convince Xerxes he could get away with claiming he was his own son! That would cool down the politics with Greece! Great idea. It worked. Themistocles leaked a letter in Greece abdicating his loyalty to Greece and defecting to Persia. The letter was written to "Artaxerxes" the son of Xerxes. This is the first the Greeks had heard of king Artaxerxes. But there was a catch.
    The Greeks knew that Xerxes had a son named Darius, so if Xerxes had recently died, why hadn't Darius took the throne? Right. So part of the conspiracy involved historically killing off BOTH Xerxes and Darius! Greeks love tragedy. So the story that was leaked in Greece was that Xerxes had an affair with Darius' wife, which led Darius to kill his own father. How tragic! Then his younger brother, "Artaxerxes," avenged his father's death by killing his older brother. Result: A legitimate king called "Artaxerxes" takes the throne.
    Of course, Xerxes and Artaxerxes were the same king! Once this scam worked and the Persians wanted their records to reflect this, they added 30 extra years to the reign of Darius I so that he was old enough to be the grandfather to Artaxerxes. They added even more years to make up for a separate 21-year rule for Xerxes apart from a 41-year rule for Artaxerxes. So when all was said and done, the Persians ended up adding some 82 fake years to their timeline. Part of this addition, though, involved stealing some years from the Neo-Babylonian kings. The Persians removed 26 years from the Neo-Babylonian kings. Thus when the timeline was laid out, Darius survives his own death at Marathon by 4 years. In addition, while the Bible indicates there is a 70-year period from year 23 of Nebuchadnezzar II, the year of the last deportation, the revised documents created during the Persian Period (i.e. Nabonidus Chronicle, Babylonian Chronicle, Cyrus Cylinder) now represented a 44-year period from year 23 to the 1st of Cyrus. That's why the Bible and Josephus both contradict the popular secular Neo-Babylonian timeline by 26 years.
    Of course, the addition of 82 fake years pushed the 1st of Cyrus back from 455 BCE to 537 BCE. That's the long and short of it. You can easily confirm this if you really want to. The simplest way is to try to confirm the expanded Persian Period and it will lead you to the truth. The Bible is reliable history; the current secular Neo-Babylonian dating is not. Once the timeline was revised and fake astronomy applied to the new dating (Ptolemy's canon), it apparently became a big issue to correct the timeline, so it was never corrected and as they say, "if you tell a lie enough times, it becomes truth." So now the revised timeline is taken seriously and remains uncorrected.
    Of course, this affects the 1914 doctrine of Jehovah's Witnesses. They base their 607 BCE dating for the fall of Jerusalem on 70 years of exile (beginning in year 18 vs. 19 of Nebuchadnezzar) from the return from Babylon occurring in 537 BCE. They accept 539 BCE as a "pivotal date" for the fall of Babylon. But this date is the revised date. When 455 BCE dates the 1st of Cyrus, 70 years earlier dates year 23 of Nebuchadnezzar II to 525 BCE, thus the true date for the fall of Jerusalem is 529 BCE (year 19). That means if you apply the "7 times" prophecy of 2520 years, the true date for the second coming is not 1914, but 1992.
    2520 - 607 = 1913 + 1 = 1914 2520 - 529 = 1991 + 1 = 1992
    Of course, when the "1290 days" (Daniel 12:12) ends when the Jews come out of exile on November 29, 1947, the 1335 days also point to 1992 as the year of the second coming! So you have Biblical harmony for the date of the second coming in 1992 using either the "1335 days" or the "7 times" prophecy.
    1290 + 45 = 1335
    1947 + 45 = 1992
    Clearly, Jehovah has hidden this from the WTS and now they are completely embarrassed as being outcast from Jehovah's favor and light. Their main doctrine of 1914 in connection with the "7 times" prophecy is totally false. As I've noted, the easiest way to date the fall of Jerusalem in 529 BCE is to use the VAT4956. The VAT4956 was apparently designed to "hide in plain sight" observations from the original timeline. The VAT4956 dates year 37 to both 568 BCE and 511 BCE. When year 37 falls in 511 BCE, year 19 falls in 529 BCE. Further, the double-dating in the text confirms that 568 BCE is the spurious date for year 37 of Nebuchadnezzar II, which is the new date based on the revised timeline.

    if this helps anyone... the Name Jehovah is NOT a translation of the tetragrammaton YHWH
    - it is a translation of the Hebrew TITLE Adonai or Lord - to translate Jehovah back to Hebrew you get Adonai or Lord => then you have to remove the vowels to get YHWH - no "J" in Hebrew - yes that makes Jesus "wrong" too but nobody claims using it makes them "God's Channel" - Jews added the "vowels" to YHWH so they would NOT utter the Holy Name even mentally... and would substitute the TITLE "Lord"
    - the Name "Jehovah" is Christendom's name for God - created by a Catholic Monk in 1278 CE
    - WT admits it was "widely used" - BUT widely used by Satan's Christendom - found on Worldly Money
    - so it's the Apostate Name for God - created and widely used by Satan's Apostates
    - now ask yourself why WT says "the Soul" is "the Life" of a fish, bird, animal or human ? when Jesus warns of those who can kill the body but NOT the Soul and also warns of those who can destroy the spirit ?
    - every JW on the way out needs to ask "does WT ever teach Bible Based Doctrines" ? obv NOT
    - while you examine whether you believe in God or not... you have to realize that NOTHING you were told by WT was even close to Christianity - you're rejecting the Counterfeit without ever having the Real Thing
    - churches point to a Saviour for Salvation - Cults point to themselves
    - find a Church that teaches "all you need is Him"

    I so hate hearing you say you don't believe in God due to all of this. I can completely understand how you would come to this conclusion.
    There is a god or some higher power for sure. But being young and going through everything you had to endure makes you shut off completely! But when doing that you open yourself up to horrible things and things you know you shouldn't do. God does give us that! Instinct! You can't science that up... You just can't. So there is something there for us. I can not believe this was all nothing and never mattered.

    Can i ask you to re-research the idea that God does not exist? I think evidence of God' s existence is overwhelmingly available: how could God answer you when you did not have a relationship with his son? Please look up John 14:6 and 1 Corinthians 11:3 and you will see why the man upstairs never said a word to you!

    T JESUS CHRIST IS A JEHOVAH'S WITNESS
    Even a Christian cannot brush aside the worship of Jehovah as God. In Revelation 1:5 the Son of God called himself "'Jesus Christ, 'The Faithful Witness.'" When on earth as a man he was a Jew, an Israelite, to whose nation the words of Isaiah 43:10 were written: "'You are my witnesses,' is the utterance of Jehovah, 'even my servant whom I have chosen.'" Jesus demonstrated that he was a faithful and true witness of Jehovah God. His genuine disciples today must be the same kind of witnesses, Jehovah's.
    Those, not of the same faith as Christ Jesus, has placed themselves in Satan's camp. There is no sitting on the fence. There is no serving two masters.
