Imagine having Barry around as a dad to learn the principles of business - one of the best starts to working life anyone could ask for. Eddie still had to go out there and do it though, and not many people end up doing it better than their old man. Absolute respect.

@@forac4566 he’s right tho, I’m not European or American, I didn’t know who his dad was at all. I only found out about Eddie through his work with dazn and GGG. He made his own brand, or name.

Barry is the owner (60%), Katie is the director (20%) Eddie is the promoter (20%)
I was born in 79 & Barry Hearn is responsible for some of my greatest memories growing up & i didn’t realise until later
Eddie & Barry are two good gezzers that are down to earth regardless if they have money behind them, the truth is they both WORK HARD to gain, nothing was just given freely to either of them, they have had to graft hard for there success, especially Barry so for me its inspirational and fairplay to the pair of them for giving me great nights of boxing I've seen live and for giving my favourite Heavyweight Anthony Joshua his opportunity to be who he is, anyone who hates on that in my mind are just jealous that it ain't them! 💯
To come from a council estate to the success Matchroom have achieved, Barry Hearn deserves a knighthood. A true gentleman and inspiration to so many.

I disagree with you your generalising this...do you know any people who grew up in money? They embrace the work ethic often end up working in the family business or under the fathers guidance...your generalisation is rubbish...you do not grow up in money then choose to be a bum thinking you have it easy when you have a strong role model...I know it and seen it so do not generalise...you are driven from your role model and do not want to let him down and rise to the standards set...

Do you Fury fans know that Frank also has sons that are promoters themselves? Smh you see the difference between him and Barry? They both came up in the same era and one backed off and let his son take the ball the other one still wants to hold on to it and put his son behind the background

the most interesting thing, is i keep looking at the room and the desk and i can sense there's something is either missing or unfamiliar... then i realized. there's no PC on that desk! Barry doesn't use pc or even a laptop, all in old fashion hand written work.
The family have done so much for the British boxing and should be held with high regard. You can't say the same about any other boxing promter. Love them or hate them you cant deny the passion they have for boxing. If i was a boxer i would want to sign with them over the other available promotion company. You can feel the passion in Eddie and respect that.

I remember bumping into Eddie in Sainsbury’s. He said I was simply the most natural boxer he had ever seen, I’m now a carpenter.
That doesn't mean Eddie was wrong... so much as YOU not capitalising on it, maybe...? 🙄🤦🏾♀️😏
@@Jikooking365 could be right there, I boxed an 8 rounder at York hall that year on a matchroom card, battered my opponent all around the ring for the 8 rounds but didn’t get the decision, I decided that night it just wasn’t for me. The opponent that night I hear you ask?? BILLY JOE SAUNDERS.
Great interview by father and son duo. Barry Hearn has done a lot for many sports, not just Boxing and has guided his son Eddie and given him confidence to take Boxing to new heights.

eddie did have a good start and a great mentor in barry a bit like michael and vito corleone but eddie is very smart in his own right and a good start is no guarantee of success in the long run and I think match rooms ongoing success is down to eddie
Just read eddies book , relentless, great read. He went and made his own way in life and his success is down to his incredible work Ethic .

BRILLIANT!
Its not his fathers money that made Eddie the way he is,its his father overwhelming drive, & to survive, Eddie had to either emulate that drive or be crushed by it.
Eddie really didn’t have a choice in the path he took in life, his fathers aggressively competitive nature, forced it on him. Im not sure if thats a good thing…But its fascinating to observe the consequences of this father son relationship play out, in real time, in the rise of Eddie Hern.
It kind of reminds of the Godfather book & films. Michael Corleone ended up, walking his fathers path & emulating his ways, not because The Godfather, Don Corleone, forced his ways or life on Michael, but because Don Corleone’s personality, was so strong & intense, that Michael could not escape his orbit, even though he tried.
Barry Hearn made Eddie what he is, simply by being himself & because of that Eddie did not choose his destiny, his destiny chose him. Deep down, both father & son are aware of this.
