Lika, quando te conheci adolescente , nem imaginava que essas questões existiam pra você. Vale lembrar que você conserva uma doçura e um olhar de bondade. Sucesso, linda!

Nice video. Common theme here. Nikkei jin living in New York. Good to have viewed. Next I need to visit Nikkei in Latin America. No Falo Portugese y No Hablo Espanol. Wonder if we can speak in English or Nihongo? Bridging the Nikkei world outside of Nippon. Tonkatsu with a side of Feijoada y Empanadas.

Namaskar, sister. I am from India. I am extremely interested in Japanese Brazilian history. I have also heard about shindo renmei. Some old generation Japanese Brazilians refuse to speak about it. 🙏🏼🇮🇳

A movie was made about this topic called “corações sujos” in Portuguese and “dirty hearts” in English. It’s very interesting and accurate. My grandmother cried when she watched this movie.

There is a reason why Japan provides special visa schemes for descendants of Japanese immigrants. You were always Japanese. You just were born and raised outside of Japan due to circumstances.

@RFS_oficial We have an entire continent full of people if we wanted inexpensive labor. Descendant Visa is only for children and grandchildren of Japanese emigrants, and it's the most preferential visa scheme aside from the Permanent Visa. The Descendant Visa was designed so children and grandchildren would have the same opportunity in Japan, had not the 1st generation emigrated abroad. And we know that many Japanese nationals didn't go to Brazil permanently. They wanted to return eventually but were unable to do so for financial reasons, war, or family reasons.
Unlike other foreign-nationals, Japanese Descendants can work in any field and can renew their visa to stay in Japan indefinitely. It was a legal remedy as Japan banned natural born dual-citizenship for children born after 1985. Until then, Japanese Descendants under paternal lineage were able to inherit Japanese citizenship since we only use Jus Sanguinis citizenship rule. It's why President Fujimori of Peru was a natural-born Japanese citizen.
In case you don't know, these days we're seeing an increasing number of Nikkei-Brazilian bankers, lawyers, doctors, nurses, pilots, entrepreneurs, public school teachers, and local government workers. Many of them are children of NISEI and SANSEI who were raised and educated in Japan. This was the real objective of the Descendant Visa. It was never meant as a short-term DEKASEGI visa.

Mariana! :) I watched your video, thank you for sharing your story, it was so interesting. And at some moment, kind of emotional (maybe I am too sensitive haha)
I think before I met you, I didnt know that there were a lot of Japanese people living in Brazil.
I have kind of the same history as you, grand-parents coming from Asia (Laos) and emigrated to France. I had the same "issue" wondering which culture I belonged too.
wish you the best in Japan !

Yes, most people don’t know about the Japanese immigration in Brazil, not even the Japanese from japan! Lol
You should also make a video about your story in France! I’m sure it’s super interesting too!!
I wish you all the best for you in your journey here in Japan too!! 🙏🏻
