GDC Dog Programs

The Department of Corrections is always looking for new programs that will assist in equipping offenders with job and life skills. Some of the most unique involve unlikely participants - dogs. GDC has a variety of dog programs at facilities throughout the state that help prepare offenders with technical certificates in dog grooming. They also gain experience training dogs for lives with their forever families, or in some cases, as guide or medical assistance dogs for people with disabilities.Today we take a look at these programs and how dog programs are making a difference in the lives of offenders.
