  • A brief history of the Moravian Church (Unitas Fratrum) describes the 562 year history of this small but revolutionary denomination. Moravians seek to follow Jesus faithfully, focusing more on how we treat one another than on points of doctrine.

I just learned about the Moravian church today! This is such a beautiful denomination, and encourages people to truly live like Jesus and to spread love. There's not many Moravian churches in my area but I would love to visit one!

I am doing my family's genealogy and found that my maternal grandmother's people were Moravians. Many of my relatives are buried in the Moravian Cemetery in Hope, Bartholomew county, Indiana, and many lived in the Winston-Salem area of North Carolina before that. Fascinating!

O how beautiful, O how wonderful! Thank God for persons like Rev Bevon White who have studied to make himself approved so that he could be able to share this rich history of the Moravian Church. Halleluyah to the Lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world. Praise God.

The Moravian Church, one of the oldest Protestant churches, traces its roots to the 15th-century reformer John Hus and has a rich history of missionary work, education, and ecumenical efforts.
    Key moments:
00:05 The Moravian Church, with roots dating back over 550 years, emphasizes faithfulness, inclusivity, and peaceful living, impacting education and global missions, despite facing persecution and challenges.
-John Huss's beliefs in vernacular Bible, preaching, and communion influenced the Moravian Church's foundation and emphasis on accessibility and understanding of faith.
-The Unity of Brethren's principles of non-violence, equality, and education shaped the Moravian Church's focus on simplicity, generosity, and serving the marginalized.
-John Amos Comenius's contributions to modern education and the Moravian Church's resilience through challenges highlight their commitment to faith, education, and global outreach.

This is a glorious and little-publicized history. I learned new things from this video. However the direction of the WCC in our time is not to be commended. Somehow I doubt that Jan Hus or Count Zinzendorf would have approved the turn toward universalism or acceptance of pagan cultural practices.

I found this video out of curiosity. So I'm not trying to offend anybody.
When I was a kid, my brother and I used to have these play battles with our toys, and the main antagonists were a Mob family, called, "The Moravians". Not sure how we came up with the name. Basically they were a mob family who had close ties with all businesses, churches, and crime since the 1800s.
